73 Filipino seafarers safe in tsunami-stricken Indian Ocean

SEVENTY-THREE Filipino crewmen manning the luxury ship Silver Cloud in the Indian Ocean were confirmed safe after devastating tsunamis hit South Asia on Sunday, Labor Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas said on Tuesday.
In a press statement, Sto. Tomas said the operations center of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) received a confirmation from the Port Area, Manila office of Jebsens Manning Agency.
At the same time, the DOLE-OWWA Operations Center was getting in touch with the manning agencies of 10 other ocean-going ships in the Indian Ocean.
These vessels include M/V Constellation, M/V River Dream, M/V Sidney, M/V Peam Siam, M/V Zaabel, M/V Sea Boss, M/V Lady Grete, M/V NYK Castor, M/V Cornelis, and M/V Lake Arafura.
