Why does Starbucks serve only halal fares in Singapore? I was quite dismayed when I visited Starbucks, upon ordering toasted ham and cheese croissant, I was told they served only turkey ham, it is a halal joint. When I asked my Singaporean friends what the reason is, they just shrugged and that's that. It is perfectly understandable to have halal Starbucks in predominantly Muslim countries like IND or MY but as Singapore is predominantly Chinese and most are pork loving folks, it is odd that Starbucks should elect to serve only halal food. Pandering to the minority to the extreme?
