I like naturally looking double lids on girls and I prefer monolids for guys who weren't born with double lids.
Basically, I prefer the natural look.

If I have to choose between single lids and fake double lids, I'll choose single lids.

Most Japanese guys and girls have natural double eye lids. In Japan, the flatter faced people have single eye lids.

I prefer monolids for both men and women. I've seen attractive people with double lids, that I won't deny. However in general I think those with single lids are more attractive. It's just my style. I've never been into the whole big "cute" eyes thing. I would take this over this any day.




A lot of Japanese are born with double lids. Not most. Most is an overstatement.

I would categorize this as double.. and it's doesn't look natural either. I know very very very very very few Asians with that kind of crease.

I don't think that many of the people in magazines and models in general have monolids. Most of them will have double lids due to the fact that is what is very in and it does make the eyes look a lot bigger.

When younger, I used to covet my cousins' monolids, b/c monolids were just so beautiful to me. I've since learned to love my double/triple lids.

Jen is the ONLY girl I have seen with monolids that looks attractive, however she still uses that eyetalk shizz most of the time for doubles when shes all made up.

Monolids look better IMO.

They make the eyes look darker and smokier, especially when Asians laugh or smile. The result is quite beautiful to me.

Interesting. Its normally the same thing with a lot of blacks too. I think that all the races are actually more critical of themselves than other races are in a lotta cases.

For instance, beauty magazines and dozens of other people often tells many blacks to drop the damn weaves or that we look better with natural hair. (I, for one, actually agree.... as this , looks better to me than this . She looks like a drag queen with the weave! Ug! Please lord save my people from lacefronts!)

People get surgery to get double eyelids not the other way around.

Ever since I was little I heard double lids were prettier so I decided to like monolids instead.

Well think of it this way, how many non asians who are interested in asian culture/asians (which are the people who join this site) like monolids? Just from this small pool, I will gladly put down money and say most of them will like monolids. Even taln (white woman) if she chimed in here, I would say she would also be into monolids more.

Is it really popular or normative in Asian culture to get the surgery done? I only ask because I've never really noticed too much of a difference unless it was dramatic. Another poster on this thread even corrected me mistaking a double-lidded celeb for a single-lidded celeb.

A small percent of Asians do go for the surgery. I think most just use the over-the-counter aids to make there eyelids into double. There is an adhesive that make a small crease by lightly gluing the skin. This starter crease is all that is needed so the eyes opened will be double. Another device I've seen is a soft small plastic string about 1/2 inch long and clear. This glued to the eyelids also forces a crease that ends up forming double eyelids.

Both types of eyes exists among the Asiatic race. Not all Asiatics with double eyelids got plastic surgery either. BTW, slanty eyes is not the same thing as squinty eyes.

"monolids" don't we all have "dual eye lids", since otherwise we'd only have a single eye on our face lol...but if you mean preference for single or double eye (lid) folds, then it all depends on the actual size, shape, symmetry, the distance between them, and their angular orientation on the face, plus whether they're in harmony with the eye brows, the shape and length of the eye lashes, the shape of the nose, mouth, ears, chin, forehead, etc...so basically, the whole combination has to work well together, ie. look harmonious together.

Celebrities like Kim Yuna and Ga In (from the Brown Eyed Girls) are a lot prettier than most double-eyelidded girls. And in real life, I'm able to just spot monolid girls on the street who are very beautiful.

Asians have a blind spot when it comes to eyes; it's so ingrained in their culture that double-eyelids are better that that's all they look for. It's kind of like how whites are so obsessed with blondes that they even think an ugly girl like Brooklyn Decker is hot just because of her hair.

That's your taste. I totally disagree. I find those girls average looking.
