No matter what Taiwan purchases from the US, Taiwan, in a real war, is no match to PRC.

Therefore the purchases are really there to make US happy, with no real military purposes.

All I'm trying to say is that China should not be dissatisfied with where she's at in the Anglo-American world order.
Germany did that, Russia did that , and Japan been there done that. Chinese had been jumping from extreme right to left and from left to right(now) for 100 years. They refuse the middle.

Which is fine if China does its own thing internally. But any extra territorial claim is a big no-no in the world order.

Last time, the Empire of Japan challenged the world order and as a result, the following arrangement was made to the territories of the Empire:

Japan proper( whole, militarily occupied, full nation status but constitutionally humiliated)
Korea (divided by half, militarily occupied, full nation status)
Formosa (whole, militarily unoccupied, half-nation status)


So back to the topic. Torpedoes made in U.S.A. are made with the intention to sink ships that are against the U.S.A. It doesn't matter where the torpedoes are deployed. It doesn't matter who fires the torpedoes.

You know what will be the reconfiguration for the US if it tried?

Sure, you can nuke us back, but the US will be permanently crippled and lose 80% of its population and 99% of its industry. If our nukes aren't enough we can nuke Russia too and force it to nuke the US to prevent US from being the sole surviving military power.

Most ICBMs launched westward will hit its targets. I think that's why China is building lots of submarines, to travel as far to the east as possible.

The 600 torpedoes are routine upgrades. The purpose is to make sure that the seas around this area are safe from hostile Chinese submarines and ships.

China has about 200, 250 warships in total so that's 2 torpedoes for each Chinese ship. That's quite sufficient since not all Chinese warships will be around Taiwan at any given time.

Torpedos are a cost-effective way of making sure this part of the ocean is safe, just in case a revisionist power tries to gain extra territory( sea or land)
