I saw 5-6 girls like that on the bus yesterday.

But it depends, there are times when you're on a bus and there's no single pretty girls there But in general girls on motorbikes are better looking than girls on buses.

I've noticed that the girls here are prettier at certain times of the day, especially evening and night. Either because they dress up so they look better or because good-looking girls come out more at night The time of the day when girls are ugliest (not really ugly but not as good-looking) is noon

If you stand on a busy road in Hanoi at about 8-10 pm or later I guess, every 10 seconds to 1 minutes, I guarantee there's a cute girl riding motorbike by. Hard to take pictures of them though.

So in another thread, even though I explained how I don't always camera like tourists and how awkward and difficult it is for me to point camera at girls, people have demanded me to take some pictures of some cute girls, so one day I've made some attempts while I was out and the results were pretty bad but I'll just show what I got. The thing is by the time I turned my camera on and held it up, the girl was already out of camera's sight, and like somebody suggested, I had to be "sneaky" which took even more time.

This was about 5pm-6pm I guess, not at night. I forgot which street this was on. After so many failed attempts, I finally got one pretty girl on the camera, but at a bad angle. The girl in brown shirt on the back of the red motorbike was really pretty, but she turned her head to the other side as I pressed the shoot button, so you can't even see her face. The picture is kinda blurry too because everything was moving.


Got another one here but it's a bad shot as well. Same street. The girl in green shirt is really cute but apparently the bad angle, bad lighting, and bad focus on my camera makes she look unattractive

This was about 8 or 9pm, after I came back from a street market. The girl in purple here is really pretty in real life I swear, but she looks like a demon with red eyes on my camera. The lighting was extremely bad. There are many cute girls at night but the thing is it's too dark for my camera to take any good quick pic of them

I've just noticed I got better pictures of girls when I wasn't trying to focus on them like the ones I took at the ice cream store of Dong Xuan. When I tried to focus on them, pics turned out bad.

I forgot to say this. The cleaning lady at my dorm is pretty too (at least as pretty as the girl chiuchimu quoted, only a bit older), she doesn't wear any makeup like girls on motorbikes, she got that natural and pure look imo. But I can't find any excuse to take a picture of her. Can't be sneaky either, she would definitely notice if I point the camera at her, even if she doesn't notice, other people here will also notice. If you can come up with an excuse for a female student like me to take a straight-face picture of her then I'll try.

Yea we can buy those stuff in Vietnam but they're pretty expensive I think. Anything electronic is more expensive in Vietnam than in the US.

Yeah you need a dslr a "big camera" for that lens.. but here's another trick... If you want to take street photography discreetly just hold your camera up and scan the scene back and forth like you were making a video instead of taking pictures. But instead of making a video keep hitting the shutter button with your finger when you pass by whatever subject you want to take a picture of. People usually don't react strongly if you're making a video of the scene but they WILL react strongly if you point a camera directly at them and take a snap. To make this work you'll have to kind of know how to act and pan slowly instead of stopping once you reach your subject... also learn how to turn off the beeping and autofocus light on your camera.. the light and sound will give you away that you're snapping not doing video.

In order to be sneaky, I think she needs a wide aperature lens and fast shutter speed to take fast action pictures (just a recommendation from an amateur photographer). I think if you hold up a peace sign they'll be confused and join in and hold up a peace sign themselves, then you can take as many clear pictures as you want.

I think that's what this girl was doing.

I heard Tuyên Quang girls are the prettiest in Vietnam but haven't been there. I think the ugliest girls are in Saigon, but then again I have only been to Saigon, Hanoi, Vung Tau, and Quảng Ninh. To be fair, there are uglies and pretties in all places, I'm not saying the pretty girls in Hanoi are prettier than the pretty girls in Saigon but it seems that Saigon has a higher percentage of uglies and Hanoi has higher percentage of cuties. But Hanoi girls aren't extraordinary. Well the average ones are just pleasing to the eyes, not super-hot like Thai stars like someone put it earlier.

In any case, my mother is still the prettiest I don't care if I'm biased
