The Israeli trade office in Taiwan said Friday that it had accepted Taiwan's apology for photos on a government website showing students in Nazi uniforms.
"I really appreciate the mature and responsible reactions by the authorities of Taiwan," said Simona Halperin, head of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office.
Taiwan's Defense Ministry posted online an announcement this week of its new summer military camp, which showed three of the students wearing Nazi uniforms.
After a visit from Taiwan Deputy Defense Minister Yang Nien-tsu, Halperin said the apology was "very respectful and very immediate."
"I believe this was an act of ignorance, not an act of intention," she said.
She said her office was willing to strengthen cooperation with Taiwan authorities in educating Taiwan's people about the Holocaust.
In recent years, there have been several incidents of Taiwan people wearing Nazi uniforms "for fun," drawing protests from the Israeli trade office.
