“Next Time Not Just in Indonesia”

The year 2006 seemed a joyful year for Agnes Monica as she got plenty of awards more than once in a row. Then what’s her next plan?

The talented young singer Agnes Monica, last Wednesday (20/12) once again received The 10th Indonesian Music Awards (AMI Awards). She grabbed 4 awards including Best Pop Female Singer and Best Production in Rhythm & Blues for the album ‘Whaddup A?’

“I thank Lord Jesus. This is a confirmation for me that hard work, optimism and never surrender in working will create a good result,” said Agnes.

Agnes admitted she never expected to get some awards this year. Further more she happened to feel unconfident because the R&B music she chose often less popular compare to rock or pop in Indonesia.

“This makes me feel resilience and ensures me that R&B is a good choice of music for me,” added the drama star of ‘Kawin Muda’ on RCTI.

In every competition this year, her name always came out as the favorite or the winner. Before AMI 2006, she has won SCTV Music Awards 2006 for Most Favorite Artist and Best Video; she also has got MTV Indonesia Awards 2006 for Most Favorite Female Artist. And in The 10th Panasonic Awards 2006 she won Most Favorite Actress.

By adding up AMI awards on her list, it’s added her self-confidence as well to make her dream come true, which is go-international. This is not her first AMI awards because in 2004 she has got 2 AMI. Agnes also has an opinion about the meaning of an award.

According to this girl, an award is a form of self maturing. “All the awards we got should become a support to be more optimistic and also encourage me to be more mature in music and in my self,” explained her smilingly.

Having plenty of awards inside the country, Agnes said she still unsatisfied yet. She admitted that it makes her more confident to go-international. “Just pray for me that next time it’s not just in Indonesia.”

From the article of Nova, 26 December 2006, she said she's been with a guy but hasn't decided yet whether she would accept him as her boyfriend or just a bestfriend.
She's now taking a trip to Hongkong and Japan.

I don't like when she wore make-up too much or wore bad dress
I hope she got success in international music scene
But I think she needs to meet a good producer that will find her true talent and improve her musicality

the term international doesn't mean only about USA, Hollywood and its stuff
USA is not the only bridge and choice to have international music career

I suggest the plan B is London, UK as the second epicentrum of music industry after USA
then the plan C is Paris, France as the center of the third most-used language in the world with many francophone countries like Canada, Belge, Switzerland, Monaco, Vietnam, Maroc, and even in USA itself

It seems that Agnes hadn't been mentally-ready and hadn't enough courage to face the risk...
She should be like Anggun that had never gave up until her dream came true

The interview should be taken before Indonesian Music Awards, rite?
Hopefully, Anggun's speech about having a dream and hoping the new nominees of The Best International Artist Awards in the future would encourage Agnes to have a better plan

No offense but her dancing is not even that good.. compare to the artist here in the US, I'm just stating the facts, because if she thinks she's ready right now.. she's just going to make herself look like a joke..

good point....but why Anggun that has higher vocal quality and musicality than these singers couldn't make it? Why other Asian singer like Coco Lee failed? Or how come the talented singers like Robbie Williams and Craig David couldn't get success in USA?
I think USA is a very complicated music market. Only few outsiders can make a big name there such as Shakira , James Blunt and Coldplay.

I don't know why she sets that plan B. As far as I know she's going to USA because she got an offer from American producer and since the producer has already have a famous name and experiences in handling famous artists, she accepted it.

If so, why she becomes underconfidence of herself then. If a famous producer offer you a chance, then it must be a potency in youself. By having this potency, if the collaboration with this producer doesn't work anymore, she can work with others.

The music industry in US is very complicated, I can't explain it in words...
they expect alot out of you..trust me on that

i think it'll be a great thing for her to go overseas, come back to Indonesia with even more experience and appeal. it doesn't matter even if she doesn't succeed in record sales overseas. Her fan base in Indonesia is what matters ultimately.

juz like anggun, who is now making a connection with Indonesia after working hard so many years abroad to make a name for herself. she's definitely bigger and better than agnes as a professional singer. all the experience abroad helps to develop her talents.
