I've heard something that the dance was too sexy or something?
I don't really know the details unfortunately

In the fact, it wasn't sexy at all. I tell ya the whole story:
Last June Trans TV made an exclusive concert for Agnes Monica. She opened the show by presenting Aceh traditional dance called Saman dance with all her dancers (Nezindahood Dancers). It was damn so beautiful!

The show got high rating from AC Nielsen. But the next couple days some people who called themselves as the representatives of Acehnese protested Agnes. They objected the dance because they said only girls/women could perform that dance and men weren’t allowed to do it meanwhile Nezindahood consisted of men and women. They also upset with the costume Agnes and the dancers wore for the dance since they thought it was too tight and sexy. In short, they condemned her and Trans TV and planned to suit her in court. They also demanded her to apology to all the people of Aceh.
IMO and in some people’s opinion, there’s an ambiguity about this Saman thing. I (or we) think she took a reference from
UNDP advertising for AIDS campaign that has been shown on MTV Indonesia for months. In that ad, the dancers are boys and girls, and the girls wore tight shirts too. In fact the costume (either in Agnes show or in the ad) weren’t that sexy or hot. It’s just A SHIRT!! Lots of girls in my campus wearing hotter shirts than that!
But nobody or not one single Acehnese protested against the ad. I don’t know why. The ad has run for months. So why did they fuss when Agnes did that once?

And I don’t think these people (who said they were representative of Aceh) knew that Agnes has made a big charity for tsunami victims in Aceh. She went there to cheer up the kids and gave big donation and took 30 kids to be her stepchildren. Imagine! 18 years old girl with 30 stepchildren!
For weeks people wondered why Agnes didn’t say a word as usual. She also avoided the press, which wasn’t her habit. Besides most of time Agnes was in Taiwan for shooting her series with Jerry Yan so she didn’t have time for press conference. But just recently she finally spoke up. She said Saman dance wasn’t in her first plan for the show but that was Trans TV itself who asked her to do it in the first place. And to make it perfect she hired an ACEHNESE coach to teach her dancing it. And the coach didn’t explain her that men aren’t allowed to join the dance!

I myself who have a bit Aceh blood don’t even know about the rule of Saman! She doesn’t even more!
