Vietnamese are the most Mongoloid of the Southeast Asians. As for Thai people, the ones from the big cities tend to be more Mongoloid.

Anyway, I do believe that the difference between northerners and southerners ain't that significant. I know some Koreans, Mongols, and Kazakhs who were quite dark. At the same time, I know some pale Vietnamese and Filipinos who are even lighter than some white people.

As far as his face, his cheek bones are very Mongolian, typically Mongolian and I don't think those cheek bones are found in anyone except Mongolians. Koreans may have high cheek bones but Mongolians have unique cheekbones like the ones shown on his picture. Those cheekbones start at a much higher position on his head than even a Korean cheekbone and they end much lower than even a typical Korean cheekbone. It is also much rounder than a Korean cheekbone, it is almost as if someone cut a circle at the sides and stuck it on the side of his head. I have only met one other Mongolian and he had the same kind of cheekbone.

The Mongolian cheekbone is very round like his and I would struggle to spot such a cheekbone on a Japanese or even a Korean.

He looks MONGOL. If he grinds his cheekbones down maybe he can look like an Ainu but he needs to keep that red thing on his head to achieve the Ainu effect.
