yeah i agree with kaged, maybe rizal have used that term, but not since teh spanish. eg. we don't use mexico-me hi co, we use the american/english mexico but of course mexican is still mexeekano. it's weird, putting spanish grammatical usage with english terminology. colonial legacy.

bombay is not really (though properly they are supposed to be called Hindu in Tagalog) but chekwa (i don't know about eguy) are just slang, some Chinese might get offended, but I don't think it's that bad at all.

yeah what does it mean?
we've always (for the most part) just used what other colonizers used ie vietnamese, are just vietnamese (from americans). we don't even have our own term for indonesia, and malaysia (i'm sure there is, but in a different dialect from different ethic groups)

First : New York is Nueva York in Filipino.
Our teacher had used it in a sentence several times
Second: Filipinos called Indians as "Bombay" because most of the Indians who settle and came to the Philippines came from that city.
Indians are also called "Sepoy" .
