Full Version: AKB48: Oba Mina suspended do to controversy

Oba Mina of Team 4 has been suspended do to things she posted on her blog. Even though most things had a reason, it was the totality of inappropriate behavior that caused the suspension. In other words, management felt that Oba Mina, as an Idol representing AKB48, should have watched and been more mindful of her image.

The claims ; back ground info pertaining to claim

She had a boyfriend; this blog entry was before she joined AKB48

Blog picture of her showing her middle finger with the words "f_ck!" as caption; J-teen don't grasp the depth of this word

Criticized AKB48 management; in her blog she wrote she didn't think it was fair that all KS members got promoted

Teen prostitution; she made a joke about it on her blog that management felt inappropriate for an IDOL

She blogged about getting drunk while underage; serious, illegal, Other Idols have gotten fired for this

She is tentatively scheduled to rejoin next year. She was very popular so I thing she'll make her way back.

She reminds me of ex-Morning Musume member Kago Ai lol It would be weird if there's no scandal like this from the world's most populous pop group. embarassedlaugh.gif Some celebrities don't seem to realize SNS is not their personal diary.

The management suspended her quickly so scandal probably won't develop. After all, the verdict and punishments been dealt out, there is nothing left to scandalize. Also, she didn't do anything but admit she got drunk even though she is a minor. truth is, in Japan there is still a lot of people that give their sons a glass of beer on a celebration like winning the local baseball tournament even though he maybe only 16.

Over all, I'd say at least 2~3 Idols fall from grace every year because they are caught doing inappropriate behavior. Several decades back, I don't remember her name, but an Idol got caught on camera in bed with her boyfriend smoking a cigarette. She totally lost her carrier and ended her life by jumping off a building.

Underage drinking is not such a big deal but smoking is taken a lot more seriously especially for female idols, isn't it?

Okada Yukiko killed herself by jumping off a building in 1986 but the reason was not clear.

Yeah I think it was her - don't remember.

Smoking = No IDOL
Smoking is going out of style in Japan( as well as America). Everyone used to smoke!! Not only did people smoke in restaurants and Amusement parks, Workers would smoke at their office-desk. Smokers in U.S. is a dying( embarassedlaugh.gif) minority. Japan is following suit.

I used to smoke when I was a stupid kid embarassedlaugh.gif. In 1995 a pack of reds(Marlboro) cost like $4.00. I'm glad I kicked the habit 11 years ago. A pack of reds cost about $7.99!!!!!!!! embarassedlaugh.gif embarassedlaugh.gif embarassedlaugh.gif

Smart decision. Imagine all the money you've saved since then. embarassedlaugh.gif

how young when u started smoking?

yes i noticed america has far fewer smokers than say europe. russia seems to be the worst. i think i might have increased my chances of a lung cancer from second-hand smoke waiting in the sheremetyevo airport. F terminal...

AKB48 and some other IDOL management have a policy that says NO Boyfriend-Girlfriend allowed while singer is under contract. It's a throw back from the 60~70 to maintain a clean wholesome image to the public as will as prevent scandal - I believe this policy was introduced to Japan from American TV a long time ago. The same company that produces AKB48 also produce SKE48 who's members have to be 20 years or older. SKE48 members are allowed to have romantic relationships as well as get married. I see this policy phasing out in the next decade as social ideals change.
