Does anybody know how poverty is like in Japan?

I was watching this show where they showed how Shibuya park is filled with homeless people and stuff and I was wondering what other conditions homeless people in Japan lived.

Usually in cities with public parks there are homeless people with their tents you also occasionally see them with blankets sleeping at the train station. I think like 2 weeks ago somewhere in the kanto area the authorities ripped down all of the tents in this one park. There aren't all that many though and they don't beg for money or anything they just keep to themselves.

I saw a docummentary in tv that tells that normally when people are in deep $hit, they just go to the mountains and disappear... a very japanese way of dealing with things...

^Going to the mountain must be very Japanese because my /bf goes there when he upset.

Yea, that's pretty much it. I used to hang around Nagoya and it's not too common. I know that some husbands that end up losing their jobs try not to go home, for the reasons that they are too ashamed to see their families by letting them know that they were fired or laid off. It's sad hearing about it sometimes.

I admire them for their sense of shame.

Not like the stupid people here in North America who stay alive even though their life is $hit. and they go on welfare and waste taxpayer's money.

Yea, I agree with you embarassedlaugh.gif2 . Ignoring the never seems to be the best way. But for some Japanese, or any other person, are just like that when it comes to being too proud to oneself. It's not worthwhile when some people are only based on what job they have. There is also no respect when they are harming their families, friends and variety of people. People can have some unresolved issues that can never be gone away easily, and that’s their problem. But if you look at the bigger picture, one life is too short and petty to worry about small things, even if they make it look big.
