Has anyone seen the live-action Sailor Moon series that's been airing in Japan for awhile? It is ze hilarious but somehow intriguingly good.

I heard about it, it was on a site once, yet i am not planning to d/l it, look at them, hehe

How much like the anime series is it? And what do other japanese people think of it?

I never saw the original anime, but I wouldn't be surprised if it remained faithful to the series. I just downloaded the first nine episodes with BitTorrent this week and they are pretty cool.

I haven't seen the Live Action version... sounds good though!

sailormoon's series is not as good as those other anime but their costumes are work of art. and about the tv/live drama? i think they didn't have to copy the entire "anime" look ? they look kinda silly

I mean, I never had ANY interest in the original anime series and saw this one because it was being hyped up in several Asian media forums. It's hilarious, but it's actually very good. I guess you could say it's the "Smallville" of Japan.

How can anyone dislike Sailor Moon? It's one of the most beloved of all Japanese anime titles! This is an outrage!

I think I remember reading somewhere that Takeuchi Naoko (the creator of Sailor Moon) is married to Togashi Yoshihiro (the creator of Yū Yū Hakusho, Hunter X Hunter, and a few other titles). Isn't that a match made in Heaven!

I guess I don't like the Sailor Moon anime very much because all I've seen is the dubbed versions, which contain very forced dialogue. I should get ahold of the subs. Then again, the premise and plots of SM don't really appeal to me very much. I tend to categorize it with amateur level anime, along with DBZ and Pokemon.

Most of the voice artists they hire for english dubbing of anime just don't seem to have the talent and training that seiyuu have, unless they're the real high quality type. As a result, they don't keep up with the characters. and it all just ends up sounding forced and unnatural. That's why I prefer subs, hands down. I especially dislike the voice actor for Sailor Moon. She sounds like an old English headmistress.

DBZ? Awesome? It's for little kids to amuse themselves with on weekday afternoons. Each move or event seems to take up an entire episode. The characters spend 3 minutes fighting and 15 minutes in either roaring power-ups or whimpering standoffs.

Yeah, her voice is pretty bad in English and I do like the original Japanese seiyūs better for most animes.

Well if DBZ is any way childish it's ForKids's fault. They take Japanese animes and filter out all the violence and profanity and hence DBZ is TVY7. I like it nonetheless though. I like the storyline and the length.
