Last night, my Indian friend had a couple of his own friends over and served them alcohol. They had about 2 shots of vodka and 2 beers, and then were pretty sick, with symptoms of vomiting and delirium. and I ended up watching then for about 1.5 hr until I thought they were able to go to bed.

So, just for future reference, how much alcohol can the typical Indian tolerate before he becomes intoxicated?

This fellow was about 65 kilos. What's strange is that I weigh a bit less than him, and I can drink a lot more. I know that in Northern Chinese people, our ability to oxidise ethanol to ethanaldehyde is faster than in the Caucasoid races, but the thing is, aldehydes are reactive and can cause a lot of damage. Our secondary oxidation enzyme operates at the same rate, so it builds up faster. Also, our tolerance for "white spirit" is higher since our livers produce lots of dehydrogenates...

That's the physiological aspect of it...

Ick, I hate alcohol.

If no one drank, such things wouldn't need to be worried about.
