What are you on about. Khao niow is as much Thai heritage as it is theirs.
However, thai people evolved to eat other types of food using chopsticks, fork and spoon Laos only know how to eat with their hands so Khao niow is very popular.

u better start writing now, i am sicked and tired of siamese claiming: Thai shushi, thai sticky rice, thai chilli, thai garlee....etc. Even though those stuffs can be found in other countries too.
