TROPICAL storm "Auring" (international codename: Roke) left at least 15 people dead and up to 16 others missing after cutting through the central Philippines, the civil defense office said Friday.
A fishing boat went down off Tarangan town on the eastern island of Samar, killing eight crew members and leaving up to 15 others missing, it said.
Four people drowned and one was missing after a boat capsized in strong waves off the central city of Ormoc as Roke lashed the country on Thursday, it said.
Three other people were crushed to death by falling trees also in the central islands.
The storm has since weakened into a tropical depression as it moved out towards the South China Sea early Friday.
