ive seen the burmese channel on sattelite. They speak english well. They have a beautiful culture as well. Burmans look like asians. Some look indian and some look chinese.

it is sad too see, as a citizen of myanmar, to see a person asking where burma is. Becuase of military rule in myanmar for more than 45 years, it is now very little known to the rest of the world. When I arrives in singapore, I feel ignominious when i find out that some new generations in singapore even doesn't know where burma is or what burmese is, even though Myanmar and singapore are members of ASEAN.

someone wrote that some peole in myanmar looks like chinese, some looks like indian.

It is because burma(now called myanmar) is home to many races, with predominant burmese who comprises 60% of country population. Burmese are akin to tibetan, while shan(second most dominant ethnicity in myanmar) somewhat similar to chinese.

not only does it has ethnic diversity, but also it is rich in culture and boasts of biodiversity and many natural resources.

but, it is extremely painful to admit that our country is one of the poorest countries in the world.

ultimately, all these happened and the country started to disintegrate since military had seized power.

^ Is it true that the Ethnic Shans are trying to gain recognition for their own "Shan State" ?

yup, it is true. but, they face vicious suppression by b!tch military junta. in reality, it is not just shans. other major ethnics in myanmar are fighting for freedom.

there is nothing i can do, just wish for good luck and best endeavour.
