The Viet girl looks slightly younger than Yoona and she got a touch of Southeast Asian (bigger eyes, fuller lips). Both of them are cute.

I just went over the article again. She was discovered by a Thai model agency and will be going to Bangkok to pursue her career. She will probably get further than Hồng Quế and Bảo Trân as our modeling industry is still trailing the Thai's by quite a distance. Thinking about it makes me a little sad, too.

Speaking of independence, I met this Viet girl from Haiphong on my flight back to the US and she said she came to the US to study, she got admitted to some school in the US and she was like in 10th grade. And she went all the way from Haiphong to Boston all by herself, live by herself. It's kinda shocking to think about it.

how come asian bands consist of such huge numbers of members? Typically Western bands have three to five members. But Asian bands have like what nine members?? I can recall a Japanese band that got like 20 members. I mean that's not a band anymore but a choir. Why do Asian bands need such huge numbers of band members?

For the record, when I said I felt sad, I meant I am sad that our modeling industry isn't as developed. I have no qualm against Thai people.

I think it would be more easy to understand if we approach within the framework of industry.
When we consider that this is entertainment industry i think format of singer who create profit heavily depend on market and profitability. so, there's could be no restriction depending on anterior two standards.

I guess when that kinds of Western bands that have three to five members first came out, people might have said like this, "What's that? is that singer? why it need so many people?" but Western producers tried new format (of course by considering profitability at the same time). and now, that new one of the time have become common thing.

In the same manner, this kinds of group-format may be an optimized one or idea or new try considered market conditions of Asia.
And who can know if this group-format would be new standard in the future lol

And one thing, this young Asian idol group singers have a character as a entertainer more when compared with Western ones.
Members of band are also actor/actress in movie and drama and commercial actor/actress and tv show host and tv entertainer etc..
At the thought of this various activity, we can understand that having many members could be more advantageous to gain popularity and profit.

And also having many member doesn't debase the quality of performance, but rather they show cool and unique performance that is optimized to the total number of the group.

Lastly, this kinds of pop idol group is just part of Asian music industry. they don't represent the whole.

It makes me think of another topic: Another thing that strikes me is Asian celebs aren't just singer, dancer, TV-host or actor. Usually they're doing all of this with big popularity and success. You've got the same thing with some Western actors, but usually they're known for just one profession.

I do wonder whether these Asian celebs are so talented or the Asian entertainment industry has just low standard.
