Suzuka used to speak emphatically about the Tao people(yami) and the knowledgeable person that can shed light about them.

Tao people said they came from the South(possibly from the Ivatan), fleeing from a certain calamity and got separated from their homeland.

From what I had read, though their language is classified under the Philippine languages, the Ivatan branc, genetically they're closer to other aboriginal Formosans. They theorized that perhaps due to the constant interaction between the Yami & Ivatans, the Ivatan language was adopted & replaced their own indigenous language. Aren't the Yami the only Taiwanese aboriginal with a culture of seafaring?

Here's a nice video on the Yami I found on YT: Ivatan

Is it just me or does the Yami martial dance remind anyone else of SIPA or SEPAK TAKRAW? Sepak Takraw?

Pay attention to the leg style kicking in Sepak Takraw called cartwheel at 7:00 mark: Kick SIPA Up

Ivatan said the Yami Tao came from Itbayat. They are different type of people in Batanes, Although some Yami
Tao tribe understand the Ivatan dialect.
