Khmer believe they ward off evil and brings goodluck. If you want to get the authentic Khmer yantras and tantras tat, you'd have to get it the old way with the whole blessings and have to abstain from talking for three days and night. Jaya Varaman had his whole upper body tattoed with Yantra scripts.

^Wow, the detail is amazing. But I've never seen a Khmer hanuman with a mini trident or jakra before, he usually wields a dagger.

We were watching it in class, and my teacher said those were Mongatard(sp?) and the tempple were a little off. The Khmer got Hang or kill but the children were left. Khmer during the angkorian period didn't even were those kind of clothes so why would they wear it duing the 60's? I don't see any Kben so I think my teacher is right who a Vietnam War Fanatic.

Snakes with more than 1 heads do exist. May be not as many as the nagas.

Hi. I'm Dara.

This is my translation of "what doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger" in two different fonts. Others may translate a little differently.
អ្វីដែលមិនសម្លាប់ខ្ញុំធ្វើឱ្យតែខ្ញុំខ្លាំងឡើង - avei dael min samlap kanyom thveur aoy tae kanyom khlang laeung...

If you prefer a different font style, let me know. There are several more, but the two styles I choose here are the most traditional-looking font styles.

Hey guys! I'm bumping this thread back up, to ask sth..
I want to get a khmer text tattooed on my back.. one vertical line, on my spine. Do you know where I could have the sentence "You must be the change you want to see in the world.' translated?
Thanks!

I've seen it before for plaques and signs. But it looks very awkward because you are not suppose to separate the vowels or subscripts from the beginning consonant, thus giving it varying widths.

And if you wanted a short sentence with letters about 1/2 inch in height, it will from your shoulder down to your waist. I'm just guessing.

In short, Khmer was not made for vertical writing, either do it horizontally with breaks or use Chinese instead.

just have it written sideways. a lot of traditional tattoos are written vertically or along curved lines. you'll just have to tilt your head to read it.

Mmh, ok.. then it'll be something like this (that's arabic, but an equivalent of what I want). It's also written sideways.

And yeah, I was hoping it'll reach my waist.

But, what about that text?

Would someone be able to translate these lyrics for me?
"Here, in this spiralling darkness
Where my pleasure is your pain
Fear wraps it's arms around you
Here is where I reign"
I really want a tattoo like Angelina Jolies...but I need to find sentences that line up perfectly, like hers. Actually, does anyone know exactly what hers says? Cause I was even considering getting the same, but somewhere else on my body. But I want to know the full meaning of it first. :P
Thanks

OK..I know the subject of Khmer tattoos has been talked about alot. But, I have looked and looked and haven't found what I am looking for. I want the phrase MY LOVE ALWAYS AND FOREVER in khmer script. I have one tatoo in khmer already of my husbands name, and wanted to get something else..and I don't want to ask his family, it's a surprise. Do they have websites with just phrases with english and khmer translations?

yantra tattoo predates buddhism i think.
correct me if i am wrong but i thought buddhist weren't supposed to get tattoos. so technically yantra tattooes have nothing to do with buddhism.

ok i was wrong, buddhism doesn't say specifically that tattooes are wrong, its more about what culture you come from than actual beliefs.
so go out and get tattooes!
