Just saw so many gorgeous pictures in Photography Town (Xóm Nhiếp Ảnh) and couldn't help but post them here. I wish I have the photography skills of these people so I could capture the beauty of Hải Vân, Quy Nhơn, and many places I visited in Vietnam.

Amaaazing pictures. The first pic looks like it came from a movie, it's that beautiful. Hopefully the government can enforce their anti-pollution laws better, otherwise all this otherworldly beauty will slowly witter away.

It's actually similar to what I saw when I went pass đèo Hải Vân - the islands (not rocks like in the Binh Thuan pic) looked like they were floating on a sea cloud and the entire scenery was like Heaven. But Hải Vân is more beautiful imo.

Yea, all these beauty might be gone as Vietnam industrializes icon_sad.gif In Hanoi, the air quality is really poor due to the massive amount of construction going on and it's choking the city out of its anciently tranquil character. icon_sad.gif

Those pictures you thought maybe were Hanoi are correct. That's Ho Hoan Kiem. I recognize the little temple in the middle of the lake. I was in Hanoi too and it was poluted in certain area. I miss Hanoi especially the old quarter! I walked around Ho Hoan Kiem and it was really nice!

Sometimes I wished I lived in the 1700's and this wish is random

If the pictures are taken in the winter (which is the time right now) [in Northern VN], people may wear sweaters and jackets and give you a feeling of cold weather, but it's very hot in summer

Has anyone done a motorcycle journey from the China-VN border down to Saigon? How long would this take and how much $$$ would I need? Is it possible to set up a camp and sleep overnight then continue the next day? I don't have any relatives in VN anymore so I'm by myself.

89-year-old Nguyễn Thị Sinh (left) and 92-year-old Vũ Văn Hồng (right)

These two are considered "Living Human Treasures" by UNESCO because they're two rare elders who still know how to play an ancient music of Vietnam.

I'm not sure about for tourists but I found this link

A special program for students

1.9 triệu đồng ($100) - from July 1 to August 12th

That's pretty cheap - consider that I paid about the same price for my trip from Hanoi to Halong Bay and I had already gotten a promotional price due to traveling with a large group of students.

But it's a special program, chances are you may have to pay 10 times or more that price...

Well I found this, not a motorcycle tour though
http://www.dulichvietnam.info/a/b/c/d/e/to...huongtrinh1.htm
Prices ranges from $500 to $1500 depending on the contents of each tour
But I don't recommend this though, since you won't have as much time exploring Vietnam when you're traveling with a group of people and it's only a couple of tens days

I'd just go on my own, with a few close friends...Then you get all the times to explore and discover and you can pace yourself, I personally think a couple of tens days on the tour aren't enough to explore the country...Of course that's gonna cost more if you go on your own but you get more out of it. Just make sure you hook up with someone who's fluent in Vietnamese and willing to go with you

My friends and I went there to donate scholarships, jackets, and clothes to the children there in last November. People there were pretty poor, especially the ones on mountainous region.

But there's a lovely folk poem praising the beauty Nghệ An

"Đường vô xứ Nghệ quanh quanh
Non xanh nước biếc như tranh họa đồ"

Yes, green mountains and blue sea made Nghệ An beautiful like painting.

Geez, now that I think about it, our ancestors got quite a beautiful life (though not without hardship). They worked, admired the scenery, made poetry, and be satisfied with their life...
Boron
McPain should be proud of himself for his contribution there....... oh wait. NO.

@XigonCongchua:
