Hey guys!

I'm an art school student. The past years i've realized that most of the art that i make is connected to my khmer heritage. It's not something i strife for but it just happens.

Apparently there is a need for it. I've had stages where i couldn't produce work because i struggled with theme's like genocide. It isn't always that heavy but it's a;ways there.

I really had no luck finding khmer who attend art school. So if you one of them or know anyone who is, let me know. I really would like to discuss how our khmer heritage affects the art that we produce.

Hey Sopheak!

Great to hear that i'm not alone! beerchug.gif

I'm in my third year of Fine arts, but if i was on track i should have been finishing the fourth and final year haha. I guess i'm liking art school to much:) Her we call them kunstacademie by the way.

I also did a year of graphic design but that wasn't exactly my cup of tea. I'm a fine arts student now.

Congrats on your animation acceptance! I've just rounded up my animation minor past semester. Learned a lot. I also tried to make an animation that had a relation to Cambodia. Too bad it failed because the subject matter was too difficult for me to handle.

Have you ever seen the Disney cartoons made during world war two ? Great stuff.

Yeah, the canvas is a bit crooked hahaha. The framework that i made wasn't totally straight. And when i stretched the linnen on the framework it forced the framework even more embarassedlaugh.gif

Thanx! I like that one too. I really had the need to paint that picture. I was inspired by the dramatic rescues you see on tv. That a horse is rescued with helicopters. Everybody is trying their best and putting alot of effort in to save the horse.

But what everyone forgets and what they don't show is, that when a horse has a broken leg due to the fall it's is put to sleep. And that's really sad.

I wanted to capture that intense moment. One moment is just all about survival and help but when that's over nobody cares what happens to the saved animal...

That's really sad. That reminds me of animal rescue shows where the animal police will sit there and talk about how horrible it is that breeders are mistreating and abusing pit bulls, but once they get the pit bulls out of the place they put them to sleep. It's ridiculous, because with other breed of abused dogs that have become aggressive they try to help them out of the aggressive mind-set but with pit bulls they don't even try. They don't even see if the dog is aggressive or not, if it's an abused pit bull they just put it to sleep right away. Anyway, great work! biggthumpup.gif
