Jun 14 2005, 06:16 PM
"Twilight Samurai" would also have to along with "When the Last sword is drawn"
Good Samurai drama.....very little fights but the drama is good, so it's like watching a cool fighting movie
I liked "Seven Samurai" too.....just an awesome plot.....
I think I'm still too immature to appreciate "Ran" and "Kagemusha"......I found them to be VERY long and boring. I own both of them though

2 What bugged me most of all was that in both movies there were HUNDREDS of armored samurai running around everywhere....but you never saw them fight. Some scenes look nice.......I like how alot of scenes are kinda "epic" looking....I find the movie "Azumi" to have kinda the same looking scenery sometimes too.....
"The Samurai Trilogy" about Musashi Miyamoto is a cool story too......Although I thought the book was way better. A BOOK!

If you're not squeamish, then you should check out some Takashi Miike's movies. Dead or Alive series, The Audition and Ichi the Killer.

Maybe not totally JAPAN Japanese but......
With all these War tribute movies being made......Dont you think one about the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during WW2 would be a really good idea for a movie??
I know there was an really old one called "Go for Broke" but they need a new movie about it!
BTW, anyone know when that "
Hinokio" movie is coming out? (Click for the trailer if you haven't already seen it)

Hi guys Im quite new here.
I recently put my eyes on Japanese movies. We dont see it in theatres or TV here in Indonesia, we could only find some on DVD stores (very limited collections on legit DVD stores but quite many titles on pirated stores).
After watching some stuffs from Studio Ghibli I checked Ichii The Killer and Visitor Q. Guys, theyre just like SICK but fun. Go watch it. Really.
Now anyone could recommend any thing from this kind of genre?

Ill take a note and check them when I go shopping. Ty.
And yes I quite enjoy those 2 films since I quite bored by flat Hollywood movies. Before finding out those 2 I was all on animes and beautiful flicks like Kitano's Dolls and Kurosawa's Dream. Now I'm all for the alternatives. Hey I have this film that I havent watch yet Bastoni. I'll watch it this weekend.

Casshern was a pretty cool action movie... I don't know why so many people like Azumi, i thought it was a 3 on a scale of 1-10, just my opinion. There wasn't any real good sword fighting scene, and there the ending was a little weird i thought.

Yeah, the sword fighting was nothing special. Some of the later fights looked okay though with the 2 assassins at night in the village. I think the Director made good use of the non-martial artists though.
Casshern was super boring and had a lot of weird looking comuter animation I guess. There weren't many action scenes. Many people like it though, I guess if you like Anime and Sci-fi, you'll like it.
