That is the case with many refugees, I think. A friend of mine from highschool came as a refugee from Croatia when she was 5. That's the thing that I find amicable. That these people could risk everything to find a new home for their families which most often at times is not certain.
The Australian government are such hipocrits. We signed the convention on Human Rights yet we still proceed to keep refugees in asylum camps where they are basically held in detention for afew years at a time; only to be deported after that period.
I remember in highschool, I did this volunteer work for a soup kitchen at a refugee hostel and I can't believe our government could turn their back on them. Most of them if not all are sure to be prosecuted by the state if they return to their homelands.
