The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) yesterday arrested a man suspected of running Taiwan's largest pornographic Web site specializing in same-sex and pedophile sex films.
The CIB investigators seized 6,000 discs with pornographic content.
Chen Chia-lin, the suspect, set up his Web site on a Chicago-based Internet network, and has been using a fake e-mail address to receive orders, the United Evening News report.
Chen, 36, is alleged to have purchased pedophile or homosexual adult films from worldwide, and copied them into thousands of compact discs he sold for NT$30 each, according to the paper.
Chen has reportedly earned NT$1.3 million in the past four months from the business, the paper said.
Unnamed police were quoted as saying Chen had graduated from the prominent geology department of a university in Taipei.
Chen's sexual preference changed when he was in college, and he started to meet friends through the Internet, the paper said.
Chen admitted to have had several one night stands with men, but his last HIV test, conducted two weeks ago, proved him as negative.
But Chen agreed to police's request for another HIV test. The test's result is not yet known.
The investigation bureau a month ago received tip-offs from a local anti-child-sex organization on the Web site.
The bureau then started its one-month monitoring of the Web site, and has found that Chen even sought to sell more through promotions. Recently, Chen put on a notice on the Web site seeking to expand business by attracting members, according to police.
