I think secession will prove beneficial for Visayas.
For Manila that could happen. But we will no longer have to pay taxes so Manila can improve and we are left to our own devices.

The philippines itself is a "Spanish" invention and the philippines is made
up different ethnic groups with their own culture and language. Its was
wrong for the spanish in uniting us coz now Philippines is made up of
regionalistic people. I highly doubt ppl in the philippines will ever change
coz there are always ppl with different ideals, considering the philippines
is made up of 7000+ islands and lots of ethnic groups with their own value,
tradition, culture, and language. Most filipinos are not even aware of what's
going on other provinces or that particular place doesn't even exists. 2

A federal system would best for the philippines. Secession seems remote,

honestly, i woud like mindanao to secede from the philippines just so political idiots and kleptocrats would wake up and smell the coffee..yeah, that would teach them..their crap is affecting the whole country so its better this way..who knows, mindanao is full of promise economically (we are the food supplier of the whole archipelago) we could end up as progressive as singapore if our government could focus more in developing our mindanao..but the current govt's powergrabbing tendencies and kurakot festivals is slowing the whole country down...historically, singapore is also part of malaysia, but they seceded and look at them now, from third world island to the most economicall advanced in asia...also, did you know that USA wanted mindanao to be the 52nd state before??

we seriously need to hold a constitutional convention to alter the constitution in a way that gives individual provinces more power to run their lives, so as to prevent the constant cycle of Manila cyphoning everything into the city without reciprocating back with infrustructure projects, improving standards of living and the like. Give each province 2 representatives in case high population centres like Manila get out of hand, the consolidated mass of smaller population areas can veto proposals and bills they do not feel cater enough to the masses outside Metro Manila. Local officials should be elected by local voters, but president and other national positions should be elected by government officials.

no more like a combination of US and Chinese style, which is basically more power to provinces despite population, but less power for the individual to vote in presidents. that is so true, the political environment in the phil is fvcked up..what you said is that way in parliamentray system...its the same thing, a representative of a province in the philipiness in reality do not actually represent their people's view..what you have in parliamentray system is the same thing with the current system, except that the politicians willing to become president will cut cost in bribery, instead giving the people P200 for one vote..they will simply give one million on every corrupt representative..but its not only money that they could gain votes, but also a simple P.R. to the so-called "representative" ....nothing is going to change anything..its going to be same old fvcked system all over again, or even worse...the US-style or chinese style form of system do not apply to us, we should make s system fitting only to our own environemtn, which is neither American nor Chinese

If the Philippines is going through "Balkanization." Not 79 countries (out of the 79 provinces of the Philippines) would be created as some of the posters have said. It would be more like:

Federal Republic of Northern Luzon (Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley).

If Federal Republic of Northern Luzon is not going to happen it would be:
Ilocoslovakia Federal Republic (made of the provinces of La Union, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan, {some include the Ilocano speaking provinces of Cagayan Valley); Cordillera Republic; or the Federal States of Cagayan.

Republic of Pampanga

The Tagalog provinces (Bulacan, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Quezon, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal) wouldn't want to abandon their brothers in Manila, so they would stay with Manila.

If the Visayan Republic is not going to happen then the Visayas Islands would become separate republics:

United Panay States or Republic of Panay (Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Ilo-ilo, Guimaras).

The Federal Cantonal Republic of Negros (Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental and Siquijor) if Negros does not want to be part of the Visayan Republic. The Cantonal Republic of Negros existed for a brief time until the American colonial government scrapped it and made Negros as a province of the Philippines.

Bohol Republic

Republic of Leyte (Southern Leyte, Leyte, and Biliran)

Samar Republic (Samar, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar)

Federal Republic of Caraga (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur)

Mindanao Federal Republic (Zamboanga does not want to be part of this republic)

The Filipino Muslim does not want to be part of the Mindanao Federal Republic because they want their own republic, which is the "BangsaMoro Republic"

Bangsamoro Republic (Tawi-tawi, Jolo, Basilan, Palawan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, some part of the Zamboanga provinces, some part of the Sarangani province and the Cotabato provinces.


Balkanization of the Philippines will only happen if GMA is ousted from Malacanang Palace through EXTRA-Constitutional.


But I'd say, Philippines would be better off without Manila. If Manila is out of the picture, the New Philippines would be called: United Philippine States (made of the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Bikol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao, Zamboanga, ARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN [South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos City])

Or since some of you suggest that the Philippines should be renamed "Maharlika," then the name would be "United Maharlikan States."
