Masashi Tashiro (田代まさし Tashiro Masashi, born August 31, 1956 in Saga Prefecture, brought up in Tokyo) is a Japanese television performer, former member of Rats & Star. His nickname is "Marcy".
He was prosecuted in September, 2000 for peeping under a woman's skirt using a video camera in a station. By receiving votes from the Internet users (Especially, 2ch users), he became a provisional winner of Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2001.
For the crime he committed, he was made to stop the entertainment activities temporarily. He came back to the entertainment world afterwards, but he was arrested for using a stimulant, peeping male bath near his house when he was on probation. Finally, he was dismissed from the entertainment world because of repeated scandals.
In 2001, many 2ch users voted for Japanese TV performer Masashi Tashiro as Time Magazine's Person of the Year. Tashiro was infamous in the Japanese media for committing several crimes, including peeping up a woman's skirt, using stimulants, and peeping in a male bath. 2ch programmers developed many scripts such as "Tashiro Cannon" (Tashiro-hō, 田代砲), "Mega particle Tashiro Cannon" (Mega-ryūshi Tashiro-hō, メガ粒子田代砲), 25 repeated blows Tashiro Cannon" (Nijyū-go renda Tashiro-hō, 25連打田代砲) "Super Tashiro Cannon" (Chō Tashiro-hō, 超田代砲) to be able to vote efficiently. (Since "Super Tashiro cannon" was especially powerful, it shut down Time's server.
