it doesn't matter to me in which genre the song falls, as long it sounds good to me.

JROCK for me. Finding a favorite song is as finding a favorite artist, but I do reallylike Dir En Grey and Malice Mizer. As for pop. T.M.R., Nami Tamaki, Nana Kitade. for RnB, I like Namie Amuro.

I pick pop songs for japanese. I also like abit of R&B also, 'cuz of Utada Hikaru. She make me like all the genres that she is in. I'm more of a Utada fan, but I also like Mika Nakashima too. And Do As Infinity.
My fav. Japanese song is probably Utada Hikaru "Sakura Drops" & "Why". Also I like more of her songs too.
And Do As Infinity "Desire". Mika Nakashima "Kumo No Ito" & "Ai$hiteru".

Pop songs and mostly pre-2000 stuff.
I don't like Japanese non-pop songs...they make me cringe a little.

I can't choose based on genre; there are good and bad artists in all of them.
My favourite Japanese song is probably The Brilliant Green's Maybe We Can Go Back to Then, and Kiroro and Southern Allstars are pretty damn good, too.
But I don't usually listen to slow/sad music; I listen to more stuff like Dragon Ash, B'z, and Takahashi Taku
