I don't think that the P.I. should become a state of the U.S. hypothetically speaking. And that would be disastrous for the U.S. to induct the P.I. as a state. It would be too dangerous for the Pilipinos in the homeland.
BTW i see you're from Gingoog. I have relatives that are from around that part of the mindanao. Mostly in Pagadian City and Tambulig. Do you know of any Ebarle's?

NO. 1st, the U.S. would not allow it... if the the U.S. wanted us to be a State, they would have initiated the process... and they would have done it a long time ago. It is obvious that the U.S. does not want us to be a State. 2nd. It would create more problems for the U.S. with our National debt and all (i.e. corruption, population explosion, pollution, etc.). We are not an asset to the U.S., we are more like a liability.

Grrr, HELL NO. We need to resolve our internal problems instead of making others carry the burden. Plus, i'm just really against it. I like our country the way it is and it feels like losing a part of our identity once we have become a U.S. state.

I hate to admit it, but in some way - the Philippines is still somebody's "bi-atch"... lol... in the sense that there are still many Filipinos who have colonial mentality - and from that - springs imported stuff from the US - ergo, we still support the US economy largely/courtesy of imported goods.

nope! quezon made a mistake by declaring an early independence. they should have waited a little more longer...
the U.S. could have properly prepared our country (airports, waterways, sewage, etc.). our country would been at least well prepared before WW2 and our present crisis...
if you think its an insult to our heros if we became a US state... how would they know, they're all dead...

The people who are thinking or wishing that the Philippines should be a US state are those who are no longer have faith in the Philippines. And their best option is to make the Philippines a U.S. state.
I read it somewhere that after WWII, the Philippines only got like 3 million dollars from the U.S. to rebuild the Philippines' economy, while the former Yugoslavia got $300 Million. Come to think of it, the Philippines is more loyal to the U.S. than Yugoslavia. And after WWII, the Philippines sided with the US, while Yugoslavia sided with USSR.
After WWII, nakabangon ang Pilipinas with little help from the United States. Because the United States concentrate rebuilding the economy of their former enemy, which are Germany and Japan.
Philippines is not Hawaii, if you have more Americans living in the Philippines than Filipinos, then there's a posibility that the Philippines will become an American state. This is what happened to Hawaii in the late 50s. The Americans outnumbered the Native-Hawaiian, and the result was, Hawaii became the 50th state in the Union.
