Greetings...
hi... i'm new here,
Though Malaysia has a very good economy, but we lack behind in sports. Why aa?
Espcially in soccer. I believe most of the Malaysian can gives name for the England stiker, Brazil Midfielder watsoever. But i think if somebody ask them who is the Malaysia top stiker, i don't think they can answer that.
During Mokhtar Dahari era, we can beat Japan and South Korea easily. But now...
People say that the present player is just aiming for the money. I strongly believe that but i think the Euro players wage is 20 - 30 times larger than the Malaysian, but still they can perform well for their country...
How sad... huhuhu

this is an area where many newspapers and talkshows have been discussing about, and until now, there is no known answer as to why we're not performing
there are a lot of reasons why, but i dunno, its too broad to mention it here ^^;;

I think he posted this to figure out the reason of the sudden deteriorating standard of M'sian soccer.
As noted above, the M'sian team was pretty strong (a long time ago). However, I think that the loss to the Laos team (which was not the favourites to win) during one of the championships really hit most of the M'sian soccer fans hard.

There was a debate in parliament recently about our football slump performance.
The debate is comparing football and sepak takraw. Sepak Takraw..?
Hmm.. Interesting...
The debate is between FAM vice pres. and Johor Sepak Takraw assoc. president.
Well.. both sports are getting worse and worse... Sepak Takraw is said originated
from Malaysia and Thailand. But we lose to Myanmar a few back years ago. Myanmar..?
I only see the field hockey as our sole saviour in the team sport. And most of the
hockey palyer is eduacted.. May be they should implement that to our football team.
Those who want to play for Malaysia must have at least a diploma.. Howzatt?

Dunno lah, not many Malaysians are into sports nowadays, despite us having the Akademi Sukan negara or whatever. We need a catalyst like what the Thomas Cup win did for badminton in 1991. More and more Msians are going for jobs in air-conditioed offices, no one really does sport as much as we used to.

Yea. But I think it's how our society perceive people who are in sports as well. A lot of them think that those who are into sports do not have a bright future.

This year, Selangor won treble title... --->Premier league, FA cup and Malaysia Cup. Newspapers said the selangor's fan are coming back to the stadium. But from what i saw, more than half of the supporters are indonesian. and more than halves of the total goal scored is done by indonesian player.

true...dats because malaysian sports thingie havent developed well these years and they are lacking behind in many ways and they are really deep under indeed...so to make sports as better quality of professional life/occupation etc..they (the sportsmen and their scientist) must show the good opportunities to the people now

In my opinion, we only have the players to blame for making our standard of football below par amongst the other Asian powerhouses. Lack of national pride & love for the game is a recipe for disaster for any country. If that doesnt change then sad to say Malaysia will never ever qualify for the World Cup Finals.

FAM consider Malaysia Cup invite for SingaporeIPOH: The FA of Malaysia are proposing to invite Singapore for next year’s Malaysia Cup competition.
FAM vice president Datuk Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar said the proposal would be discussed at the FAM Council meeting to seek the views of all the states.
Singapore won the Malaysia Cup 24 times, the last in 1994 before pulling out of the M-League.
On another matter, Raja Ahmad Zainuddin said Indonesia have proposed an annual competition with Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam starting in January.
“The proposal will be presented to the football associations of the four countries,” he said. – Bernama
ENDDo you guys think this is a good idea? If I recall correctly, only Selangor won the Malaysia Cup more often than Singapore. Nothing rallies the crowd better than a match against Singapore, likewise whenever I went to Kallang Stadium in Singapore, the crowd really went all out when it was against a Malaysian side, ie almost always!

And soon, a proper ASEAN Cup?

I agree it's a good idea. M'sians have been fighting M'sians for too long and they are losing their fighting spirit. Probably they should invite the other countries' players so that their competitiveness would increase. M'sian footballers have been slacking for far too long.
OT: I remember when I was young I use to support the S'gor team.

Back then, most people loved M'sian soccer. There was once, when my cousins and I were in the car.. and one of the S'gor match just ended. We saw a lot of motorcyclist carrying the S'gor flag.. we opened the window and screamed.. "Siapa Menang?!" Then this Malay guy from the backseat of the motorcycle carried the Selangor Flag and said.. KITA MENANG! I was so proud. But those were the days.
