Hmmmm...Faber sounds German. Perhaps you descended from someone who was a native of Deutschland.
BTW, I've seen a lot of half Germans/Austrians back home, especially at the Catholic school I attended. There were Frankenberger, Sternberg, Frantzen, Becker to name a few, nevertheless they were all fluent in Filipino. This one guy Frankenberger, he looked really white, and we used to tease him by calling him ASO as in German Shepard.

We treated him well though, except for the occasional teasing.

My last name is Spanish, but that doesn't mean I am of Spanish descent.
The story goes like this. My great great grand father joined a rebel group during the Spanish occupation, so he changed his last name to a Spanish sounding name, so he wouldn't be as conspicuous to the Spaniards tracking him down. Obviously it worked, but nobody is certain what his Filipino last name really was.
