Thang Long- capital of Dai Viet, Annam etc.

Hanoi- capital of one Vietnam.

American sons of b!tches tried so hard to flatten Hanoi during the war, but their bombs are nothing compared to the spirit of the Vietnamese people. Hanoi shall live on, and Vietnam shall be stronger.

Also Vietnamese communist has destroyed many "feudal" remnants of the old Hanoi. Nowaday hanoi is left with Pho Co (which to me looks like crap icon_neutral.gif )

Blame the French and Americans for it Talktohand.gif Do you know how many bombs were dropped in Hanoi during the war ? especially in 1972 ?

Yea but also the remants of it WERE also destroyed by the Communist (actually they destroyed it once). Seriously, Hanoi to me is being sabotaged with ugly buildings and old broken houses such as The Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the Soviet headquarter etc. shrug.gif

It's even in the history book. When Communists want to destroy everything that reminds Vietnamese of chế độ phong kiến include destroying Vietnamese relics, eradicating large landowners etc.

Did your parents tell you about the huge exile of one million Northern Vietnamese?

Then why didn't they destroy Văn Miếu ? why didn't they destroy "Thành Cổ" ?

Yes, i do know about the exile, but people were escaping to the south because of the fear they had for Communism. I don't think that has anything to do with what we are talking about.

The large ones are saved. If you look at Chinese Cultural Revolution, you will find the parallel. biggrin.gif

In December of 1972, the American air force deployed 444 B-52 bombers against Hanoi dropping enough bombs to fulfill their goal of 'bringing Hanoi back to the Stone Age". North Vietnamese air-defenses were shattered but the will to fight remain strong in the northern camp. The Americans are all criminals, they seek to destroy the thousand year history of Hanoi and Vietnam, and they partially accomplished their goal.

I always wondering, if supporters of the Saigon regime loved their homeland and history so much, why the fu-k did they let America bombed Hanoi and northern Vietnam, the birthplace of the Vietnamese nation?

The government of the Saigon regime being quiet over the bombings of Hanoi is pretty much like the alleged destruction of the remnants of "feudal" Hanoi by the VC regime.

The firepower of the bombing of Ha Noi in that Christmas 1972 is equivalent to 5 atomic bombs that was dropped in Hiroshima, truly amazing.

I think you're a bit wrong, all those new ugly buildings like the mausoleum and the headquarters... are build outside the old centre of Hanoi. biggrin.gif
