Indians (and South Asians) can get mistaken for almost every other race on the planet:

Whites, Blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, Arabs, Jews, Persians/Iranians, East Asians, South-East Asians, Mongols, Central Asians, Greeks, Mediterraneans, Amerindians, and the list goes on...

Actually people guess my nationality wrong lots of times... icon_confused.gif
They thought i was Turkish (i so do not look Turkish imo) lots of times and once
Native American (that one was cool cuz you dont hear that often hehe)

Pakistanis were once a part of India,,My Pakistani friends actually have ancestors with Indian surnames. Plus, Pakistan wasn't created until the seperation of India, and a lot of the Muslims from the Indian side migrated to Pakistan.

BTW Karma, I saw that you were mistaken for Turkish. Are you light skinned?

I do know some Chicago Indians that get mistaken for Phillipino or Cambodian, as well as being half-Indian mixed with some Eastern Asian nationality.

Here are some examples of those types of South Asians. Some people can tell that they're Indian or Pakistani (like most of the other Indians) and some people think they look like more SE Asian. You decide, lol. It's all about opinion for Indians and Pakistanis that look like this.

It's true that there are Indians that could get mistaken for anything, but I think Arab and Latino are the most common when it comes to Indians in general.

That's true for some people, but Pakistanis are still South Asian. Some people can't always differentiate between Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Indians, and Bangladeshis. There were Indians who I thought were Pakistani, and there were Pakistanis who I thought were Indian. My mom gets Pakistani a lot, even by other South Asians.

Another reason why I included a Pakistani girl is to show that not only NorthEastern Indians can have those features.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I think that's pretty silly (and rude) to accuse someone of lying about their background, because you know yourself more than they do. Or, maybe they don't want to admit that they made a mistake when it came to identifying their own kind.

I would mistaken an Indian or Pakistani for being hispanic/latino or arab.

I actually am not that ignorant and dumb. Indians usually have very dark skin, high nose bridges, and big googly eyes.

They are usually darker, on average, than latinos. Plus I find Indians to have more caucasian looking nose (hence I said they have big nose bridges) than latinos.

What's funny though, is I've mistaken an Afghani female for being mexican. I began to speak Spanish to her, and she was like "is this guy on crack?" She then told me she's Afghani. Seriously though, the way she spoke English had an accent similar to how mexicans speak English ....with this sing-song accent.
Hi Tone
we are half malay and half polynesian and I'm not upset being called Indian(your people look great).

indians, as well as latinos and arabs dont really have a set look...we all have very different skin colors, features, hair textures, height differences, etc. u might be able to tell the difference between these races, but u cant generalize by saying indians are usually darker or very dark, and not all of us have big eyes. and the "big googly eyes" comment was unnecessary.

all the members of my immediate family (my two parents, my siblings and i) all have different skin colors, different features, different hair textures, and even different undertones to our skin. and yes, all my siblings and i have the same to parents.

Seriously, if the Net is any indication, southern europeans get extremely angry if anyone mistakes them for a darker-skinned race.
