Out of the great mass of cheezy flicks there are some that stand out to me, my favs are...
Deewar
Hum
Lagaan
Mission Kashmir(I found it a bit cheezy, but still liked it)
Swades
so what's your favorites?

Your right, India makes the most cheesiest flicks in the world!
But the ones I like from all of them are usually movies by Ram Gopal Varma (since his movies aren't cheesy):
Satya
Company
Kaun
Darna Mana Hai
Ek Hasina Thi
Or good dramas/epics like:
Black
Dev
Lagaan
The Rising
Asoka
Kisna
Legend of Bhagat Singh
Kal Ho Naa Ho
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander
Swades
There, I added Swades.

^ Don't get me started on Mission Kashmir, what a piece of trash!
Just jokin, Mission Kashmir was a decent movie... but at least Asoka had a lot more of this:

^ Dunno which movie that is
Swades... it was okay, but not excellent. The progress of the story was kinda
slow and yeh the story itself wasn't so good. Kinda average

I liked Swades because the story was very meangingful, which is very rare in Bollywood.

I don't think I've seen a movie like that either. Do you mean the Sino-Indian War? I didn't know they even showed Indian films in China.

it was on the sino-japanese war. it was widely distributed in the country because the movie glorified mao while demonizing the japanese and the KMT.

My one favorite Bollywood flick: Nagina with Sri Deva. I love Sri Deva. To me, she's the very essence of Indian beauty. Aishwarya Rai is beautiful, but some about Sri Deva that's just captivating. Her snake dance is the best snake dance I have seen in my life.

OK I think I've tracked that movie down. Was it called "Journey of Dr. Kotnis"? Although I haven't seen it, it sounds similar to what you described. It was a bio-pic about Dr. Kotnis and was made in 1946, long before the term Bollywood was used. There was another Indian film based on Dr Kotnis called "Nightmare in Red China" made in 1955 and a Chinese film based on him, called "Kedihua dai fu", made in 1982. I didn't know there were any Indians involved in the Sino-Japanese War but Dr Kotnis seems like he was pretty respected in China.

Hmong people watch all sorts of movies. We don't limit ourselves. Most of my friends prefer Korean movies though. I think it has to do with the fact that we don't have our own country. If you want more info about the Hmong people, just go visit the thread.
