oh wow, that cham apsara dance is .. umm.. very sexy!

siri > filipines dont have an apsara-ish kind of dance, but i have seen one where they were some khmer/thai looking costumes doing the tinikling .. the one witht he bamboo and the men clap two pairs together .. anyways, i saw a movie where they dressed like apsara dancers .. but not as detailed, just the simplified headress and costume..
Sirikittong
Ah you mean the Filipino Tinikling dance? If im correct, the Khmer version is called the skorl (bamboo) dance. The Thai also have this version, its practiced by the Karen Thais, in Pattaya, Pattani, in Lopburi as well as southern Thais (Malays).

yes, the tinikling dance .. but never mind, a movie is just a movie i guess, but man .. the tinikling dance i saw in that movie was dope.. the girl who was performing wore apsara-ish costumes that resembled thai apsara ..

oh yeah, the movie is called "the debut" .. have you heard of it? it's really good cause it shows filipino american life .. anyways, you should check it out if you have time.
Sirikittong
^ ya ive seen that. One of the actors was the guy who played 'RUFIO' in Hook laugh.gif

I must say, south east asians have one thing in common--we all have a version of the 'bamboo dance'. From Burma to the Philippines, from Laos to Indonesia.

In the light of the majestic pictures of dances of Mainland South East Asia, I would like to also share the beautiful dances of our Marine Sister civilizations across the South China Sea; the beautiful Islands of the Philippine Archipelago. Or as what my Siamese ancestors used to call the country 3-4 centuries ago, Sri Sunphathsee.

Rejang Dewa

The rare centuries old sacred dance, restricted only performed on Piodalan ceremony in Pura (Balinese Hindu temple).
Performing this sacred dance outside the ceremony, or just for entertainment sake are considered blasphemous for Hindu Bali people. During Gus Dur presidency this dance is performed in front of President in Prambanan temple. This performance draw protest from Balinese religious figures....

Sok Sabaiche tyei! Thanks for posting an anime-esque of the Robam Apsara. We have pictures of the Apsara in this thread---you'd have to go back to the first pages.

My opinion on the apsara? Its a divine dance--ethereal in its own right.
