My dad's friend is educating me on the basics of Muay Thai right now. I can tell that it'll probably take me a couple years to get basics down.

So I'm wondering if anybody else is studying Muay Thai?

yeah i joined a club here in thailand and have been training for about 4 months but im nowhere near confident enought to fight yet. im just enjoying the buzz there is so much to learn and taking the shots makes you think but i thnk there is a lot more to the sport than just the fights there is a honour code and respectful way to be a muay thai fighter and i know jack squat so far.except lips bleed easily off shin bones bawling.gif

Same here. My confidence will probably blow up when I get better as time passes. And I'm pretty sure there is an honour code as well.

Are there plenty of students training alongside you? Because my study is individual training. And do you find the training a bit tiring? Because I sure do. Especially continuous forward knee leaps.

PS - And if there is one thing I hate the most, its taking a hit to the face. sure.gif

I'm back, beautiful, and I'm still kickin'. How have you been? I missed talking to you around here and seeing your beautiful face.

To be on topic, would you like to see me in my Muay Thai shorts and boxing gloves? If I kick high enough, you might get to see something. icon_wink.gif Tee-hee just kidding.

PS - What happened to your avatar? You had your picture on there. bawling.gif

Haha yes love. I'll keep it quiet. Its too bad people around here haven't been as lucky as me to see you in all your beauty. And my shorts? Well, for me to know and you to find out. icon_wink.gif

As for calling him "ajarn", if I do that he'll be like "Who taught you that word?!"

Me and him haven't went over respect and whatnot. But I'll start calling him "ajarn."

A pair of strange boxers? No, I don't think so. And as for my ajarn being angry, probably not. At least, I hope not. And what are strange colours, anyway? embarassedlaugh.gif

^ ouch!

I know it's gonna sound biased and all but I still think that Thai boxing looks the most lethal.....

It's so painful to watch......every blow makes me cringe.

I used to find it rather odd they used to have matches at the temple tho, with the monks looking on.........

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was allowed in on a class once, bcoz the ajarn was a family friend, but I had to stick to a punch bag coz all the others were guys.....

lol....I caused myself so much pain by just pissing about with the bag so I quickly ran away and left them to it!!!

The ajarn we know is like president of the Thai boxing association in the UK. There's him and his brother....Ajarn Kit.....whenever u see those two in action you always see these big beefy guys looking on cower away!!!

When we were kids Ajarn Kit used to be able to do this trick/move were he could run up a side of a tree trunk, flip in the air and do some kind of flying kick thing....he always did it perfectly....

eek.gif so cool........ embarassedlaugh.gif

My brother started doing it a couple of months ago and I thought of doing it but school is killing me -_-. Anyways does anyone know where I could dl some videos of the thai matchs? The ones in the u.s. arent good and its really hard to find any matchs in thai that are good. Most of the ones I find are with some white guy that sucks so he gets owned pretty bad...

I did practice Muay Thai but I give up cuz it is too tuff for Amature.

Whew, shadowboxing gets a little tiring after awhile. The Ram Muay was interesting to learn.

Does anyone else have trouble doing kao dodes? For some reason, those are difficult for me to pull off.

yep ive been an idiot in several sports. rugby ,kick boxing, boxing ,muay thai, are the contact sports i have tried. i can tell you that in boxing the danger of being knocked the fu-k out is the highest and in rugby the danger of body injury is the highest.
but when it comes to consistently sore and battered and weak muay thai is the toughest. those guys dont knock you the fu-k out as much as wear you down. i am 6ft2 and i had a spar witha guy about 5 ft 10. although we are the same weight we are very physically different. at first i was dead cocky and using long legs and jabs to keep him back while i picked at him a bit...i won the first 2 rounds theni got tired and the blocks he was making killed my shins soon as he knew i was weakened he came in close with knees to body and cuts to the head he whooped me bad for the next 3 rounds and thats all we sparred. i got taught a lesson there!!!!! someday ill be good but right now i limp hope most days bawling.gif

How is your clinch game? Small knee strikes are good, and generally wear down the muscles in an opponents legs (namely the inside upper thigh and outer upper thigh) fairly well, especially in a clinch. They're also generally used to counter other knee strikes or kicks. But I'm not well-trained enough yet and my body isn't exactly conditioned enough to take the blows continuously. Ow, the bruises. I'm gonna end up with a gimpy leg sooner or later. cry2.gif
