I need some help. I can't fall asleep easily at all. My roommate can lay down and 1 minute later he's snoring. I tried to take a nap and wound up tossing and turning for an hour and 20 minutes before I just gave up. I don't know what the problem is but it's driving me nuts. Anyone have any ideas, methods, recommendations?? Serious ones

Maybe you think too much while you're laying down.

I read.
But I've never had much trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. I'm one of those people who puts their head on the pillow and is out in a few minutes. And then, when I wake up, I'm up. I'm not all dragging myself out of bed or grumpy. If I've gotten enough sleep, I'm as awake 30 seconds after pulling my head off the pillow as I will be the rest of the day.
I feel for you, Jas. Wish I had some words of wisdom. My friend had trouble sleeping and goes to bed with the t.v. on, very low, tuned to some boring program. Usually a documentary with a guy speaking in a monotone voice. Maybe you can try one of those "wave" machines? Or perhaps put on some Buddhist chanting real low?

I use to exercise then I snooze off to sleep as soon as I hit the hay.
You can also drink yourself to sleep.

yeah i have exactly the same problem. however mine's pychological. there's an embedded trait in my character which demands i finish all my school/homework otherwise i simply cannot fall asleep, which sucks if i want a day off because i'll end up not falling asleep!

lol what responsible advice!!!!
Drink yourself unconcious!!!
If that's the road you take, then take care not to mix your drinks and make sure you're not on any medication at the time!!!

smoke at least 20 cigarettes, then drink coffee without sugar, played Beethoven or Bach musics, spin around yourself at least 30 times, do push up at least 50 times, go to toilet take a pee and wash your teeth and body, say bye2 to your beloved underwear , jump to the bed , close your eyes and in 10 sec I guarantee you'll be in a deep peaceful sleep.

Sometimes when i cant sleep my brain is being all creative. its thinking how to write poems and thinking how different philosophic stuff + scientific research. Sometimes it would think how to make a painting or how to write a book. But the day after ill be too lazy to do those stuff.
My tip, excersice urself till ur dead tired 1 hour before.
Dont take a bath for 2 weeks and then smell ur armpits.

Hm.....when I realized that I wasn't so happy, I lay in my bed for 3 hours or more thinking thinking and thinking. Until I don't realize I'm still thinking, then fall asleep.
I noticed when I was happy I could fall asleep more easily at night, so all I think about is happiness, and I now can finally sleep.....but it doesn't been PEACEFULLY. I still get nightmares, and bad dreams. I had a bad dream last night too, I've been lots of them

close your eyes, concentrate on the lower middle part of your brain.
THAT is the part that makes me feel like $hit when I don't get enough sleep.
