NeebTsuvTumHmoob

I agree. As an ethnic group, I do not consider Hmong Chinese. Nationality, depends on where they're from.
qrasy
Talktohand.gif the ignorants consider Hmong as Chinese.

But if the recent origin was from China, would they qualify as "Chinese"? confused.gif
kunomchu
that be very confusing then lol

if hmong chinese immigrate to USA

that person would be hmong chinese american lol
DetunedRadio
well frankly, i dont think most chinese care if you hmong people don't consider yourselves chinese.

i for one couldn't care less.
yajthaugluv
Hmong and chinese are one, it's just with history that our language has come so far apart. It may be controversial but it's a thought, a possibility.

Chinese are not Hmong, and Hmong are not consider Chinese
we are Nomads like the Tietbatan, Mongols, Yunnan, and so forth
they don't call themselve Chinese... they call themselve Mongol
or Tietb

Now get it through your thick skull, I dislike being call chinese (even though I admire their Military power)

Hmong is Hmong... and that's that.

mongols were nomads living in grass land they rides horse, move from place to place
tibetan were semi-nomads kinda like mongols
the outer mongols call themself mongolian, inter mongols call themself chinese, tibetan call them self chinese because tibet is part of china and their passport says that also.

get it through your thick skull, some chinese are hmong but we call them miao, and miaos are chinese by nationality.

Hmong are Hmong. Miao are Chinese. Although Miao and Hmong are the same thing, I consider them to be very different. Miao = China, Hmong does not.

I wouldnt consider a Hmong from Laos as a "Chinese" but a Miao from China would be considered a Chinese

What difference does it make? There's more than 5 thousand years of history between hmong and chinese; hmong and chinese are the same if you all would consider the interracial marriages between the "empires" and it's common people... We are the product of many people before us, consider yourself chinese, if you're chinese consider yourself hmong. haha biggrin.gif embarassedlaugh.gif2 There's no such thing as a pure chinese bred or pure hmong bred, both people has being together for ages...

Gosh you people have never taken hmong history or something....the hmongs origin are unknown but we are believed to be white in the first place...hmongs are believed to have ruled over china (before it was china) until they lost in the very last battle (b/c it rained) in the 10 great battle....hmongs blended with the other asians and that is how hmongs looks so asiany...b/c they chinese wanted to enslave them...and that is why hmong wear the big heavy necklace during hmong newyears....thats just a theory...the most probable theory....but then the word miao is chinese, it is also used to classify other asian minority groups in china....the hmongs hate it (or so it says in history) because it sounds like a cat and hmongs are not cats...the hmongs have been separated and live every where due to the unsettlements and disputes of the languages (green white blue...what ever you consider yourself) and their pride of themselves...the hmongs live everywhere though....b/c the hmongs have no real country...they cannot call themselves thai...b/c they are not thai but hmong....also with laotian and chinese....they just dont live there but in the US canada SAmerica Europe etc...**hans are not the name for hmong**
And how can you say American hmong girls are fat.....i dont believe i am.... icon_confused.gif ....i think it just depends where youre from and where you see them...but anyways 1/3 of americans are obeast anyways...so hmongs dont look that fat...
to answer Q....no i do not consider hmongs a part of chinese

Yes we know all that already. But it's been mentioned too many times in the older threads and the sticky.....and you don't need to take "Hmong History" to learn that. Do they even have it? confused.gif

Plus funny thing is, the "white" theory was from a white person.

The poster was just making a thread for opinions because we officially became recognized as a nationality of China (5th largest). Doesn't mean we're Chinese though.

yeah just like korean ethnicity who are in chinese area they are also considered chinese but not the korean ppl itself. China shouldnt be used as a term for race then just use it as a country name just like USA .

Yeap, for example, even the Chinese are an ethnic minority in parts of Southeast Asia and are considered part of that country. They were mostly there from when the Chinese dynasties tried to occupy those areas up until today. Still following their Chinese traditions while influenced by the natives.
