GMA Network bagged the "Terrestrial Channel of the Year Award."
This is the highest accolade bestowed to any TV network and a first in Philippine TV history. GMA President and CEO Felipe Gozun received the award.
“It is a great honor not only for GMA network but our country, the Philippines as well,” Gozun said.
Longest running variety show Eat Bulaga won the "Best Entertainment Special" for their silver anniversary special.
The trio of Tito, Vic and Joey were all present together with TAPE President Antonio Tuviera, who produces the top-rating program.
I-Witness' “Buto’t Balat” by Kara David also won the Best Social Awareness program. The documentary tackled the extreme poverty in the country which leaves many children malnourished. “There is a mission, not just to invoke sympathy but to translate this sympathy to action so that lives can be changed for the better,” said David who received the award in behalf of the public affairs show.
Once again, Michael V. bested his counterparts in Asia as he brought home the Best Comedy Performance by an actor for two years in a row.
Nonie Buencamino won the Best Drama Performance by an Actor for his role in Magpakailanman's “Sa Kabila ng karamdaman.”
Nonie played side by side with actress Lorna Tolentino who also received a high commendation for her performance in the winning episode.
Other highly commended shows included I-Witness episode “Missing in Aceh”, Reporter’s Notebook’s “Batang Hitman” and “Backdoor” and Pinoy Abroad’s “Pinoy Boxers.”
Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco’s 24 Oras was also highly commended by the TV body.
GMA's 'Encantadia' is also highly commended for Original musical score.
