Man arrested for flashing plain-clothes female police officer on train

YOKOHAMA -- A man who exposed his private parts in front of a woman on a train early Friday without knowing she was a police officer has been arrested, police said.

Yasuyuki Kawai, 36, a chef from Seya-ku, Yokohama, is accused of indecent exposure. He admitted to the allegations during questioning.

"She was my type. When she showed me her ID card, I thought I couldn't escape," he was quoted as telling investigators.

Shortly before the train's doors opened at Yokodai Station, the officer showed him her police ID card and arrested him for indecent exposure. The suspect and the officer were the only passengers in the carriage.
