Man kills teen stepdaughter after fight over friends

ICHIHARA, Chiba -- A man who killed his stepdaughter by repeatedly stabbing her in a frenzy built up following an argument over her friends was arrested Sunday, police said.

Hirotaka Sugiura, 36, self-employed of Ichihara, was arrested for the murder of his 19-year-old stepdaughter, Chiharu Sugiura, a restaurant worker.

Sugiura admits to the allegations.

"I got mad and stabbed her," Sugiura told the police. "We had an argument over the type of people she was hanging out with."

Police said that Sugiura called his stepdaughter outside their home to talk to her, but their discussion developed into a fierce argument that turned violent as the stepfather pulled out a knife and began stabbing the teen.
