Police officer faces suspension for dating suspect's wife

YAMAGATA -- A police officer faces suspension from duty for dating the wife of a criminal suspect he had questioned for more than six months, police officials said.

Yamagata Prefectural Police are poised to send a report to prosecutors, accusing the 49-year-old sergeant of molesting the woman on a number of occasions.

After the man was indicted, the sergeant dated the woman for more than six months, police officials said. On some occasions, he had sex with the woman at hotels in Yamagata and other locations. The officer also summoned the woman to the police station where he fondled her body and molested her.

The suspect who learned of the sergeant's inappropriate relations with his wife lodged a protest with the police station in September, prompting prefectural police to launch an investigation into the allegations.

The woman also filed a criminal complaint with the force, apparently accusing the officer of molesting her. (Mainichi)

This story doesn't make sense. The police officer dated the woman and even had sex with her at hotels, so why does he have to fondle and molest her at the station?
