well do you agree or not?
DetunedRadio
I agree SPQR.

IF Japan continues to visit the war shrines and thereby slapping the face of all the asian countries and they keep up their attitude, they are going to become isolated from the rest of Asia.

It worked before because China was communist and closed off but now the rest of Asia is rising and Japan is scared.

I think asia can easily forgive Japan only if they just show a little of humbleness and apology but they refuse to do even that. It's like we're lesser human beings or something and we don't deserve it.

Summarise your point, seems like you're making two separate statements.
Are you asking whether I agree that anti-Korean feelings in Japan exist/are common?
Or whether I agree with you thinking Japanese think white>japanese>asian?
Also which generation are you referring to?

um. i agree and disagree. only because i don't particurly think all japanese have an anti korean sentiment. when i been to japan, i was treated fine. but i hear different stories though.

i think right now, japan is more anti-china than anti-korea because china has the potential to overturn the balance of power in East Asia. and also because they've always seen as inferior human beings.

government/politics.

i dont think the general population even knows enough history to know why China and Korea have some beef against their country.

But there is a tendency amongst the general population to look down on Chinese but I don't think its any serious.

didn't Japan respect China for most of its history?

and no, if China succeeds in tipping the world balance in power, it won't accept Japan back. not unless they show some sort of humbleness and admit to what happened.
SPQR
i never said all Japanese held this mindset... also, not everyone who holds this mindset is a bad person... i know this mindset was strong at the end of WW2... i do not know if its decreased or not... all i know is, it is shameful to be Korean in Japan... children are taught to look down on Korea... schools even take their kids on field trips to compare how much better it is in Japan compared to Korea...

Yes but what I mean is the kind of asskissing that is happening between Japan and the US is likely to happen between Japan and China once China become the superpower therefore Japan would probably be very humble and apologetic etc towards China at that point.

hmm, i don't think so. Japanese will never @$$ kiss Chinese ever again because even if they want to, they'd be too ashamed to. China would be quick to forgive Japan though if they just showed the slightest bit of respect. We are hot-tempered people but we also forgive easily. There was an actual agreement amongst Chinese and Japanese business people in the 80's that neither side would bring up history and it worked. However, nowadays, China gives all its contracts to the EU to spite Japan.

And besides, most Japanese don't even know how much China has developed since then. When they visit China, they just go to the temples or the sightseeing places.

well, it must be very hurtful to korean women that the japanese still haven't acknowledged the existence of the korean comfort women.

I don't think Koizumi has any sense, he'll just suck up to whoever he needs to. Currently he is being an utter prick towards Japan's asian counterparts, the whole issue needs sorting out once and for all instead of him continuing to rub their noses in it icon_rolleyes.gif

seriously, the guy is insane. He's fu-king over his own people as well. The Japanese have been competing for high speed train projects and airplane projects for years and after China got pissed off cause of the Yakasuni shrine visits, they just said, "fu-k you, we'll give these contracts to the EU."

So yah, 250 airbuses from France. And the high speed train project from Beijing to Shanghai goes to France as well.

That's a couple of hundred billion dollars lost right there.

We would have gladly given the projects to Japan because Chinese in general prefer and like Japanese design better. But their PM just had to be a d!ck.

Interested to see what it says. It's quite likely that a lot of copies were sold due to the media attention and the curiosity of people.

for the past 50 years... Koreans living in Japanese have been looked down on by fellow students and treated unfairly by their teachers... these kids have now grown up and control Japan... obviously they're gonna hide it... there is no reason for them to suddenly change... and now, books that reinforce Korean inferiority are runaway bestsellers comforting the newer generations...

^ For the past godknows how long pretty much all non-Japanese have been looked down on by Japanese, happens to some mixed Japanese, it's not just happening to Koreans, there are a number of xenophobic people in Japan. The same thing happens in Korea in schools icon_confused.gif
Thankfully the younger generation doesn't seem to be so bad, obviously there will still be a number of that mindset due to the older generations and the way they were brought up, it can't suddenly all change icon_confused.gif

Must just depend then because I know several people who hated school in Japan due to the fact that they got picked on so much for being half white.
Hopefully that's just a sign that times are changing, maybe now it's not so bad but then I should think that applies to most non-Japanese icon_confused.gif

Me and my friends no.
The Japanese in general, I would imagine most don't but there will be a number that do.
The dangerous thing about such a book is the way history is taught in Japan, there are areas that aren't delved into, books like these can warp young minds.
