why did they name it zaytun? zaytun is the name of a famous city in china, now called quanzhou. it also has the oldest mosque in east asia.

Strange coincidance. The military called it "zaytun" because it means olives in arabic, and olives symbolizes peace in the arab region (like how the dove symbolizes peace in the west).
Zaytun division is just there for reconstruction and security. There are combat troops (including special forces), but the vast majority are military engineers and such.
edit- I forgot to mention that Zaytun has expanded its role somewhat since its deployment. They're protecting a UN building near the base, and are training the Iraqi National Guard.
