hey, does anyone know of any good sports anime out there? I've already Slam Dunk and Whistle. I've also heard of Prince of Tennis, but a lot of people I know say it isn't that great so I didn't bother watching/reading it... so does anyone know of any other sports anime?

Touch. it's about baseball. it's kinda old but it's pretty good.

Suzuka...its more romance than anything, but I highly enjoyed the track & field parts. It never really resolves that part because the manga continues on.

I somewhat i like an anime called whistle soccer. Is SLam dunk any good the anime ? I've read a chapter or 2 of the manga only.

hmmm... i guess Dear Boys is a nice anime show... it's about basketball too! But if you would like to compare it with Slam Dunk: Slam Dunk is better!
Prince of Tennis (TEnnis) is nice too! And Striker Hungry heart, it's just like Slam Dunk but it's soccer...

What is Captain Tsubasa about? haha that name reminds me of Captain planet XP is just about soccer? or like any extra storylines?

It's mostly just about soccer, but it's really cool and always keeps U on the edge of you're seat, very suspenseful

some really good sports ones i like are buzzer beater(basketball), Hungry Heart Wild Striker(soccer), eyeshield 21(american football) captain tsubasa(soccer), whistle(soccer), and prince of tennis(tennis).

Hajime no Ipoo is good, but the definitive boxing anime/manga is A$hita no Joe. It's worth the effort to find; the ending alone is something to remember.

A$hita no Joe is a 1970 anime. That's really old, and difficult to find. I'll try looking for it though to see how it compares to Hajime no Ippo.

Slam dunk has to be one of the best (if not the best) sports anime (hell, it could even be the best anime). I was never really interested in basketball, after watching just 10 episodes of it, I've been playing ever since. Besides, the story's just so damn nice and touching at times, you'd just feel like crying (yes, i cried watching the part about mitsui). Watch it, you will never regret it.

When I first saw Slam Dunk years ago, I also thought it was one of the best anime ever. Even now, I still think it's one of the best sports anime.
