So those of us wondering whether to move to San Francisco or not, maybe we can get some good info from people that no first hand.

Give us info like, "is it very smoggy, or is the polution not so bad?"
And, if I don't hate gays, but I don't neccesarily want to hang out with them everywhere, is it possible to find a place like that?

And does the sunrise over the city make you feel like life can't get any better? yahoo.gif help.gif

I live at Berkeley. The Bay area is alright.

SF is not the same as Berkeley/East bay.

SF is colder, more crowded, and just more depressing in general.

Berkeley/Emeryville is warmer, cheerier and better to live in. The weird thing is, they're just seperated by a bridge, but its that different.

Clubbing and downtown SF is cool, north beach, etc... but to live in SF is different. Its best to live in the east bay, and go to SF for fun.

i dont live in SF, but I am there every week

good luck getting $$$ for a place to live

homosexuals... meh, doesnt bother me. it's not like they start hitting on you while you're on teh street... unless you make yourself presentable on Castro street

it can get cold and major windy. fog is a beast

Chinatown is awesome! JTown rocks also!!

three kingdoms is right though. Best live near SF, not IN SF

I live in a small town, and I "have" been hit on by homosexuals in the street.

Why did I have to be born to cute? shrug.gif shrug.gif

San Francisco reminds me of a smaller version of NYC because everything is so crowded

yes, it's a great place to live if you can afford to live there

we own some property in SF

SF is a cool place to grow up, lived here all my life

Just stay away from the southeast part of town

Born and raised there. no finer place. don't care about the sunrises. i don't get up that early, but nothin' beats the beaming sunsets on the ocean. Close to heaven. expensive ... yes, IF you can get in. it's only so big (approx. 49 sq. miles, 800,000 ppl). you learn quickly that diversity is a way of life, get use to it. gay, straight, bi, black, brown, white, red, yellow ... it's all good.

I would say LA is more diverse than SF. East bay is similiar to LA tho.

SF is okay, I would say its an ideal place to raise your kids if you are Cantonese, probably the best place in America to raise your kids if you are Cantonese IMHO. Personally, I need more sun tho.

china town rocks =)

they play tupac, snoop, dre, g-funk, too short etc... so much on KDAY in Los Angeles. They play Too Short more in LA than they do in the Bay. I wish stations up here would keep it real EVERY DAY like LA... hella fools in HP and Oakland think this.

LA is gettin down with some of the bay area stuff, like the hyphy... i know lots of SF cantonese who love it in LA and the scene there... and a lot of Koreans in LA that enjoy going to the bay area as a getaway. I know lots of SF Chinese who enjoy partying in LA Koreatown, and LA Koreans that get mistaken for Chinese in SF and are surprised at the police protection...

If you don't mind the gays...

If you want a place to live, then I suggest the Easy Bay (Across the tunnel).

I was born and raised in SF but unfortunately I have to attend art college in LA...

If you asked me, the air quality in SF is better... I can't tell if that's smog or fog in hte distance... I hate it here in LA... You call those roads? The water down here in LA tastes sorta of funny...

Housing is expensive in SF... Everytime I go into St. Francis Woods, it makes me feel poor... But I like SF better...

i love SF
i lived in daly city, right next to Sf, and weather is alway foggy and breezy, cool, it never past 70
I just hop in my car for 10 mins, and there it is, SF!!!!1
i just moved to La, and i hate it. traffic all the time, and they never have the left turn light, you have to wait in the middle of the intersection, then turn real fast when you have a chance LOL

Yeah Socal does play bay area music - mostly big names like E-40 and too short. I've been here about a month now and I can definately say - there is nothing like the bay area. They play our music here, but I've heard them bleep it out when the rapper says representing the yay!

San Francisco is a beautiful city if you can afford it. The bay area in general is a very diverse area, actually more diverse then I've found L.A. to be.

SF clubs are cool - and full of asians. Better love Chinese ppl if you're going to move there. As for gays, I have no problem with them and its really not that big of a deal. There are many more straight then gay men in SF.

Also, you wouldn't want to move there if you hate the cold. I always found it preferable to the blistering heat. The good thing about living next to the water is that the wind blows the smog away. So SF isn't as smoggy as many major cities. It's actually one of the cleanest big cities you'll ever visit.

There is a lot of sight seeing in SF for sure. And the cafes....I lovet the cafes. I been to 6 of them. Ohhhhh and I love looking at the murals all over Mission Street as well.

I lived in SF for a year and a half, and I like emeryville/berkeley a lot better for living. weather is a lot better in the east bay, and SF, unless u grew up there, is kinda annoying.

but i always hate that sick, light feeling u get in ur stomach after too much time in SF. i never get it in the east bay tho.
SofaKingAwesome
i remeber when my friends almost got jumpin in richmond embarassedlaugh.gif

You hate it in LA, too?

Yeah, traffic's terrible... I live near LAX, so it's bound to be bad...

Even though I don't drive a car... My friend doesn't recommend driving around here...

I recently went back to SF, and it felt so good to be home even if it was for the weekend... I went to visit the new shopping mall, but I only went into Bloomingdales for like two minutes before my sister and I headed out... It was so nice and shiny and bright... But it seemed expensive, too... Went to Borders...

We went down to get something to eat eventaully purchasing a bag of chips from Bristol Farms... We had to hide the logo on the plastic bag from the protestors outside who were saying "Don't buy from Bristol Farms." My poor sister, $50 spent on two shirts from American Eagle...
