You sure your not yellow?
Our system goes like this:
White
Blue
Yellow
Brown
Black
Black with yellow stripes

Their are other schools that use a black with yellow stripes, blues with brown stripes, red and black, etc.

Edit: The belt system differs, write your Kyu or Dan ranking.
Nikkie_nid
Im sorry then, maybe im yellow now. Is it the second one?

My training ground is in the university campus.

Hi there

I was studying Yoseikan Ryu. Has anyone heard of this?

I think its mostly common in Western Australia.

Belt system goes something like this:

They had 1st and second stage of colours, also had 1st stripes, not too sure as I didn't make it past 1st orange because I had to perform dentist work on "white" aussie after some comments he had made on my ethnicity. LOL

White
Yellow 1
Yellow 2
Orange1
Orange 2
Blue1
Blue2
Brown (not too sure how many)
Purple (" ")
Black (" ")

Wow, you do Kyokushin? I applaud you, really. I've seen how tough it is, Kyokushin practitioners are really something.
One-hundred men Kumite

Honestly, I think Shotokan is boring and im thinking of taking an all-offense style like Goju ryu. But then again, I dont want to be seen as a quiter.

Kyokushin vs. Wing Chun
BigBenChow
^ That video looked more like a match between Karate Fighter vs a Japanese Bruce Lee Wannabe. No real Wing Chun or even any Kung Fu was demonstrated in that video. Obviously, the "Chinese" fighter had no sparring experience. Not surprised tho, since it was a Japanese show. By the looks of it, the fight followed the sparring rules Karate fighters would follow in competitions. No groin, and No kicks to the head.

I don't know my belt color. But my tail and hair grew back a couple of levels ago.

Kung Fu itself is obsolete . It can not compete with newer martial arts like Muay Thai or Kyokushin. Although, I hear Jet Kune Do is a effective in real life situations.
In a Kumite, you cant strike the head with your fist but you can knee or kick it.

And are you supposed to be a martial arts expert? FYI, Kung Fu itself isn't one form of martial art, idiot. Shaolin quan can own you - and your dog, anyday. icon_wink.gif

In case you didn't know, almost all Japanese martial arts can be traced with a Chinese origin/influences. And with that being said, you should know that Karate (唐手) used to mean Chinese hand.

SHAOLIN > YOU.
Mr. Tree
kungfu is pretty broad.... there was some thread about Sanshou (kung fu) owning all karate exponents from both Russia AND Japan... now that my friend says something....

Sanshou btw is a recent kinda of (kungfu)
Wei_TianDi
btw muay thai is close to completely useless when fighting a grappler. muay thai will get PWNED really bad.

Pwned... do people even say that anymore?

Thats not even Kung Fu faggot. mixed with kickboxing and grapples, some sort of Sanda.
Have you seen a Kung Fu practitioner defeat a Kyokushin master?

By the way, Tae Kwon Do is not Karate.

Im not an expert, but have decent knowledge of martial arts to give opinions. What, you think I only know Karate?
Simply because there are no full contact sparring like Kyokushin, Shotokan or Goju ryu, Kung Fu is useless.
Shaolin could be compared Tae Kwon Do, where both would fall victim to Kyokushin.

Obsolete? By following your logic, martial arts is obsolete since I can easily grab my gun and put lead into your chest.

Can't hit the head with your fist? Why?

Like I said, maybe the Japanese "Fighters" should stop beating up Bruce Lee wannabes and go get some real challege from China. Karate forms like Kyokushin is all about direct force of attack. Kung Fu styles like Wing Chun for example is all about absorbing and redirecting. Like Bruce Lee said, be like the water!

You keep stating that Kung Fu is obsolete. The word Kung Fu means Martial Arts in Chinese. So which Kung Fu are you referring to? Did you imply that Martial Arts is obsolete?

Kyokushin is just simply basic Physical Toughness Training...Basic Martial Arts.

Please do not confuse the real kung fu with hollywood's version of Kung Fu. When I fight, I won't rub my thumb on my nose or make any high pitch sounds before I rip my fingers into your eye sockets. I think Karate really needs to get rid of those "No Punching to the head" rules. Pretty weak...

kaydisnine, Its not really smart to say Kung Fu is totally useless icon_confused.gif . Ever heard of Bajiquan? Albeit, its not the traditional kung fu you are talking about, but it is very effective.
Ignore these fanboys, its obvious shashoujian has a chopstick up his @$$.

Ah yes, the infamous Kyokushinkai. I've always wanted to try it, but there are no dojos in my area (Bay Area) beerchug.gif

Why are you making this all racial? I dont even care if the're Japanese, but apparently you do. Who knows? Maybe there is a great Kung Fu master in China that is holed up in the mountains. But the $hit I see, are weak strikes and ineffective stance (Wing Chun)
Yeah I saw that interview, love his accent.

Karate is noting without its katas. If you didn't know, different Karate's have different katas. But I cant say what Kyokushin is since im not a student there, but I can say that Shotokan is the most basic of martial arts. Everything from the hammer strike to the knife hand is there.

No, but I have seen countless times, various Kung Fu practitioners showing flashly moves but getting knocked out in the end by a Kyokushin student.

No head strike rule only applies to Kyokushin practitioners, obviously.

The no head strike rule applies to competitions. Depending on who you're sparring with at trainings, we often bend the rules. Many have backgrounds from other martial arts. We have a couple of old Wing Chun practitioners, Krav Maga (me), Jiujitsu and Judo also, and it's all good. Each have its strengths and weaknesses.
