KOBE -- A company executive who sent a samurai sword to the Kobe Shimbun newspaper president's office in November last year has been arrested for intimidation, police said.
Nishida sent a paper bag containing a samurai sword to Kobe Shimbun President Tsuguo Inagaki at his office in Chuo-ku, Kobe, by mail, investigators said. It was delivered to the victim's office on Nov. 17.
Investigators are grilling Nishida over another samurai sword hidden in an umbrella that was found on the premises of Inagaki's residence in Kobe.
Nishida had lodged a protest with the newspaper publisher on several occasions over the way the local daily covered a mayoral election in Hyogo Prefecture in 2004, local police said.
