I have been reading news from Malaysia lately and one fact that undeniable is the increase of crime rate. The latest arrest of 6 Malay/Indian rapists that raped a Chinese woman in Sungai Petani really bothering me thinking what the hell happen in Malaysia. Most of the rape case victim that ended up with murder are Chinese? Are Chinese woman considered as easy preys?

Well if what you say is true, it's definitely an indicator that rapes of chinese women are getting reported to the authorities. Rapes involving women of other races may not be getting reported for whatever reason.

Many rape-murder victims are young womens, irregardless of race. The rise of such crimes can be attributed to perverse & sado-masochists pornography that can be found in black markets or readily available on the Net.

Police reports also showned that these rapists also suffered mental depravations. Many killed their rape-victims so that the rapists cannot be identified.

Such sexual crimes are on the rise. For all Malaysian women, please bring along your male relatives or husband to accompany you outside the home.

Bring along too pepper sprays or used the car keys as weapon of choice. Even a penknife is preferable.

Ombudsman to tackle all grouses against authorities

ALOR STAR: The Government plans to set up an ombudsman to investigate complaints against the authorities, including ministers and the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz said the Attorney-General’s Chambers was conducting a study on the establishment of the independent body.

“Once the study is completed, we will table the proposal in Parliament for ratification,” he said, adding

that the process would require some time.

The A-G's Chambers, he said, was looking into all aspects of setting up the body, including the appointment and empowerment of its members as well as the legal implications.

“We want this body to be more effective than existing commissions,” he told newsmen yesterday after briefing government officers and community leaders in the Kota Star district on current issues and the Ninth Malaysia Plan at SMK Hutan Kampung here.

An ombudsman is a government appointee who investigates complaints by private persons against the Government.

Referring to the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC), Nazri said it was not fair to only target the police.

“There have been lots of complaints against others in the public sector but no investigations have been carried out.

“Therefore, we must come up with a body to investigate figures of authority, agencies and departments, including the ACA, Customs Department, JPJ (Road Transport Department) and Land and Mines Office as well as elected representatives,” he said.

The setting up of the ombudsman would enhance public confidence in the Government, he said.

In Petaling Jaya, Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang welcomed the move but said it should not be an excuse to “kill off” plans for the IPCMC, reports ZULKIFLI ABD RAHMAN.

The proposed body to investigate complaints against all government agencies and ministers should be truly independent and free of interference from any party, he added.

“A proper study of the mechanism of the ombudsman should be made and revealed to the public,” he said yesterday.

Bar Council chairman Yeo Yang Poh said the body should have enough regulatory powers as it would have to deal with many issues affecting government agencies.

“If the legal structure of the ombudsman is diluted, then it will be inadequate. The ombudsman should be able to reach a real solution to the issues at hand,” he said.

I remember when I observed a post-mortem of a chinese kidnapper in johor, who kidnapped a child of a chinese dato'. He was shot dead after being pursued by the police. 1 bullet went into the head, 1 went into his arm. There were some rice in his stomach when they were opened. Those rice made me feel pity for him for about 5 seconds.

nowadays kidnapping is a big issue...its almost in the papers every week..and the kidnapped are still very young...i hope my family is well and fine...

This is only estimates, who knows there are many unreported crimes in Malaysia.

^ Crime statistic is not the best way to judge one countries is the safer place or not because it would depend on the culture or how reliability of enforcement force in one countries because many small crime will not reported in developing countries such as pick pocket in bus etc. Also small crime many enforcement officer will just close their eyes.

The best way to measure safety in one country is murder case, because no matter how poor or how unreliable the enforcement of the country are, murder case would always being reported and documented since it is impacting many people left behind.

Malaysian police are crap sometimes. I got mugged and manage to get the mugger's car plate number. Its been a year, and no news. wtf? geez..
I've never felt safe since then. I bring pepper spray with me all the time

Pepper spray is 100% ineffective.

Adrenaline in the human body could quickly counter the effects of pepper spray unless u spray it on a calm person.

A mugger and criminals usually have adrenaline pumping in their body before they rob people.

Do u know that in the US, a policemen emptied a can of pepper spray(which is several times stronger than a public issued pepper spray) onto a criminal but the criminal managed to take away the policeman's baton(or pistol,I can't remember) and killed the policeman.
