The Muslims who hate India are usually non-Indian transplants (especially in Kashmir, where foreign Muslims cause more trouble than the local ones).

The President is the highest office in India(PM's post is nowhere near), although it is symbollic. But the President is the Commander-In-Chief of Indian Armed Forces, so he can yield enormous power. I also believe but I am not sure, but the President only can declare Martial law or emergency.

Indira Gandhi was able to get martial law because the President was her supporter. As such he got it declared.

How can you be half muslim?

I always found it odd when people say they are half this religon/half that religon.

Most muslims are urdu from bihar and ofcourse bengalis... There are punjabi muslims too met many in delhi... In south most are in Kerala and are highly edcucated and well settled in jobs etc.. Hyderabad in Ap also has substantial population there are mix of pathans and urdu speaking... Then there are pathans scattered all over india...

when we say half muslim it means that one of the parent is not a muslim.. The person maybe a porper muslim... But surely u cannot cannot negate ur other half.. Can u... In religious terms it doesn'nt mean anything muslim is someone who believes in allah and koran but identity wise or for personal information people say he or she is half muslim...

there are muslims in karnataka also. In fact muslims are in assam and practically every state. poeple migrate.. but culture wise majority are urdu speaking followed by bengalis then punjabis etc...

i thought muslim ppl are not allowed to marry non-muslims.
that if they do theyre considered to have abandoned islam.
thats why one cant be half-muslim.

u must convert into islam then the marriage can be legally recognised.

actually even in india women do convert when they marry a muslim.. Although both shahrukh khan , aamir etc have not converted their wives. See this is india not a islamic country we really don't care if someone does not recognise... the court recognises it and leaglly u are married...

As for the half thing even if they have converted if people know this then they defiantely say he or she is half muslim...

There is no single ethnic group in India, since the country has at least 1500+ ethnic groups. Hindus and Muslims can belong to any of these ethnic groups.


I don't see how someone can claim to be half Hindu/Muslim if they only believe one of these religions. The whole purpose of religion is to adhere to a particular philosophy or way of life. Maybe for identity but that would be secondary to what they actually believe.


Bengali Indians have a Hindu majority. It's the Bangladeshis that have a Muslim majority.
